I was dissapointed when the Alvin race was postponed because I was able to attend, please move the race to next week because I will not be able to attend this Saturday. I will be willing to put in an extra $2 dollars into the entry fee for a crying towel for Bob.

I generally rely on MSN weather as being the most accurate forecast of all the sources in this area. They are showing 17 to 22 mph out of the ESE all day long. Flying in wind does not bother me, but my concern is for safety. Our poles are due north and south with pylon 2 being north. With the wind normally out of the south, it just makes you accelerate hard out of pylon 1 and when you come out of pylon 2 you come to a crawl going upwind. With the wind blowing toward the pilots and pits, I am really concerned about control issues coming out of pylon 2 with the unusual wind direction. I can see many planes being pushed wide after pylon 2 and flying over the pilots and all it takes is one to get disoriented and lose it. We have a good safety record and I want to make sure we keep it that way.

I will make the call first thing tomorrow morning. Going to look at the forecast one last time to see if it changes. I hate to call it because our schedule is full the rest of the year for events and rescheduling it for 2011 will not be an option.

Well it's with great regret that I have decided to call the race off. Again my decision is solely based on the safety of our spectators, course workers and pilots. Any other wind direction other than from the East and I would not be that concerned. I will look at options to reschedule, but at this time it don't look real promising for 2011.

Please get the word out to those traveling from the Austin and Waco areas.

Don

Next week would be good if you can do it. I have such an adrenalin build up it’s starting to run out my nose. I will need that crying towl. If I don’t do some Club 40 racing soon I think I will explode.

Well shoot guys! Sorry to hear that you have to cancel due to the weather/wind.
Hey, just a thought, pack up the RV together with all of your stuff and yall do a road trip to Alabama next weekend. Birmingham RC will be hosting their Club 40 race Saturday October 15th. Would love to see some Texas guys there!!! You then can show us how yall roll when it comes to Club 40!! LOL

Would love to have you guys come Jim!!! I'm being serious!!! Yall Come on down.
Of course, we are just like you , that being we are still a week out from Saturday Oct 15 and not knowing what the weatherman is going to give us. But the last 3 or 4 weekends have been beautiful with no rain, so why change things a week from now? I'll do an anti-rain dance with a beer in my hand tonight. That should do it!
Let us know by replying to the Bham thread if any of you think you may come....
,... I'll then defrost another possum for the grille.
