I'm always on the lookout for a cool RC site to take the truck. Skateboard parks are fun but full of kids who chase the truck and get in the way, plus the concrete is really hard on the truck if you do too much ramping.
Town parks are cool with open grassy areas, but it can get boring after a few laps.
Gravel pits are pretty cool with the hills and jumps and kicking up the gravel but hard to find a good one that isn't "off limits"
Beaches can be nice but again, swarmed by kids asking to "try the truck"
the road construction sites are interesting, but not sure if allowed to go there
Would love to try a gokart track but I dont think they would let you for free.

Please post any suggestions here!

check factory parking lots. often, they are empty on weekends and can often have some neat stuff.

sometimes there are ramps.

wide open pavement for speed runs

or parking spaces can have sidewalks or grass divisions that make like a track.

If you can find a track it's really the only way to go. I'll go to the parking lot at the park near by and say "around that light post, then around that grass, blah blah" but it's not the same as having an actual track. You have a set course to try and get better at. And landing on dirt ramps designed for RC cars is a lot less stress than landing on flat concrete.

I havent approached management at gocart tracks in my area but I'm sure they must have an "RC day" and I'm told there are clubs around my area, I just havent found them yet.
I'll have to put up a note at the grocery store or something to find local guys that share my hobby.

I beg to differ. We have parking lot races every sunday and have jumps, whoopties and ruff spots and it's actually less damaging to the cars than the dirt, it just sounds like it's worse. I've done more damage to my car on a dirt track than I have on our parking lot track. All the racers that race at our store on sunday tend to agree.

i agree with you Wade, for sure a true rc track will cause some serious damage it you dont land your jumps right or dont clear them..... BUT its alot of fun and give purpose to the hobby when you do run on a track, offroad for trucks/buggies and on road for the cars.

I like the gravel pit out by me, it has ramps, big rocks, gravel piles, dirt piles, and many other fun things. only thing is I technically trespass when im over there. I dont think anyone really cares though, Ive never been able to ask permission, the guy who owns it lives outa state, and I think its technically a abandoned property cause last i heard no ones payed taxea on it in quite some time

I think sideroad gravel pits are fantastic places to do some offroading with your RC truck. But like Masterhacker says they are all private property. Most of the gravel pit areas I've seen are surrounded with barbed wire fences, Huge "no tresspassing" "Danger" "Private property, tresspassers will be executed on sight" etc. You'd think they were Area 51 or something.

I live near a large bay so there are a lot of small beaches with public parks. They make good areas for running around too with small hills, sand, grass and such. Problem is, near a playground you get swarmed by kids wanting to try the truck and chasing it around.

I do race other rcer I was up there a none race day breaking the truck in I gues the skate park the baseball diamond and the grass field would be nice if you were racing other cars?????????????

I wish i could join a club/track, but theres only one out by me, but me and some guys I used to work with at a hobbystore had a falling out, one said he would work for me and didnt show up, i got $#!T canned, then, Names were exchanged, mothers were insulted, and I got "unofficially banned" Ive still not gone to that hobby store, and I used to spend like $100+ a week on different things. I do miss the employee discount though, that was amazing

Enough rambling though I found a empty cement pool once that was pretty fun to play in, Ive always wanted to jump the fence at the local watermark after they close for the season and go play in there, ooh i also found a fun storm drain thing once (it was like a 1/2 circle that was several feet wide running down the side of a building)

Well I've gone out today and put up a few posters. RC'ers wanted! And I'm going to try to get a club going in my area.

Together we can not only pick different places every outing but race each other for twice the fun.

I might even start a website for the club too, ranking points system, and see if it can grow from there!

Try your local College Campuses. there are all sorts of interesting places to run at most campuses. It looks like Redcat makes some of their videos at AZ state or one of those colleges in Phoenix area. Of course I have both a dirt track and Rock Crawler track I am building in my back yard... pics over in the crawler forum.. Great way to use up the excess yard space

No College campuses in my area, but we do have Provincial Parks!
