Dick Bennett of B&B Specialties
Those of you in the quarter scale airplane world may know Dick Bennett, or remember his Father Cliff Bennett, who started B&B Specialties..
Anyway, I just got word that Dick was involved in a Motorcycle accident yesterday evening.
I do not know the full extent of his injuries, but apparently he is on Life support.
Indiana does not require wearing a helmet, and my information is that he was NOT when the accident occurred.
My Father, Larry Bergen, and Dick are good friends, please join us in Prayers, Pray that he survives and recovers.

RE: Dick Bennett of B&B Specialties
I just returned from the hospital with my Dad, and have unfortunate news.
Apparently Dick suffered an aneurysm while riding his motorcycle, then crashed into the rear of an SUV.
He has no pupil dilation when a light flashes in his eyes, is totally unresponsive.
The family may decide later tonight about removing him from Life support, at which time it is believed he will pass.
Dick loved riding his Harley, it was a beautiful day, so his last memory is a good one, of good times.
He will be missed...

This is spooky.
I just received one of his world famous "cup mounts" in the mail yesterday afternoon. I believe I spoke with him on the phone the just day before.
Sounds like it's only a matter of time now.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dick and his family.

Dick passed away at 4:20 PM Yesterday at the age of 69, with Virg, his son Jeff, and daughter Jennifer in attendance.
Dick is with his Father Cliff, flying large scale models to their souls content, making perfect takeoffs and landings, no more broken props or bent cranks, Round loops and axial rolls are the norm instead of the exception.
I will miss our visits, our small dealings helping each other with our businesses.

Very sad event. I just got a fuel inlet from Dick last month and looked over the interesting catalog he included with the order. Had planned on buying more items from him. This is a great loss to the hobby as well as his friends and family. The hobby is losing many of the great contributors each year. Hopefully the next generation will be willing to contribute as much as people like Dick.

This is sad news. I and my friend Jack started driving down (years ago)to see the great Fly-ins they had at Dick,s place. It was a long drive but sure worth it and we would stay most the day. Sure did get too see some nice flying and it was always fun talking with Dick. That was over twenty years ago, but it was some of the best RC events that was really fun in my 40 years of RC. Dick must have had more friends than you can imagine. Best Regards to his family & all. Capt,n

Truly a great loss to our hobby.
Dick was often seen at local events and a regular at the Toledo Weak Signals RC show.
Several in my club often used his services, one of which was straightening cranks.
Obituary is here...

I bought several engines and associated parts from him over the years. I was never disappointed with my orders. He will be sorely missed by all of us. I hope someone can continue to sell his unique line of products which are not sold anywhere else. Rest in peace, Mr. Bennet.
