I am going to purchase a new flight simulator in the next few weeks, and I was wandering which would be the best for leaning to fly helicopters and just messing around. I just bought a new Dell Dimenion 4400 with windows XP. I am having trouble deciding between Great Planes or a Dave Brown. Seems like the Great Planes has a better selection of airplanes. Any comments?

And Man
It's cool
I have all three addons and there are plenty of things to Fly/crash
Tom
With XP you will need to down load a patch before you Ever try to run the program

G2 is worth every penny, you just can't beat the realism and adjust-ability period. Lee

I have had every version of the Dave Brown RCFS since version 4.0. I will have to admit that the earlier vector graphics left a lot to be desired but at the time it was released, there was no such thing as 3D graphics and there were no computers with enough power to generate 3D graphics if it did exist. I used the old RCFS and it helped a lot in my early practice sessions. That is to say that a simulator does not have to perfectly duplicate the physics of flight nor the image of the model to be beneficial.

I now have RCFS version 5.0 and RF G2. I much prefer RCFS over G2. For one thing, it was far less expensive and I did not have to upgrade my system to get it to operate. When I loaded RCFS, it worked on the first try. When I loaded G2, I had to make several changes to settings to get it to operate.

A lot of people will tell you that G2 is far superior when they have not even seen RCFS or, for that matter, FMS. As far as which simulator to buy, that strictly depends on your preferences. Would you want one that will help you but will costs basically nothing? FMS would be the best choice. Would you want one that is a moderate price range and offers full support? RCFS would be your choice. Do you want the top of the line with all the bells and whistles and money is no object? Then definitely go with G2 but this does not necessarily mean that you are getting the best.

I have the Dave Brown RCFS simulator and really like the way it performs. The Graphics are good but the flight characteristics are very crisp and responsive. The airplane simulation is very accurate since I fly airplanes.

I'm learning to fly helicopters on it. From what I understand it's accurate also. One thing I like is the support from Dave is excellent, you can just call him with a question and he'll answer it.

I also like the price very reasonable and it comes with a control box.

You need to have DSL or Broadband high spped connections to make it work. Dial up modems won't cut it.

I just clicked on the link that I posted and it came right up. There may have been a glitch at the time that you tried it.
