Yeah, now I look at the pic, it looks like the front and rear shafts are going to spin at the opposite direction.. I wonder if that's worth the extra friction in the geartrain.. I am sure it is fine in the unlimited class..

Interesting to note, there isn't a center diff per say, just gears to drive the propeller shafts in opposite directions to avoid torque twist.

It is also interesting that the TRF502X does not use this opposite spinning driveshaft design..

I bet the engineers are trying something new that may be on the next iteration of TRF buggy? I doubt the extra friction will matter much to people, as it sits now the 1/10th buggy class is always unlimited, because the chassis vary so slightly and it's a higher skill level, but from what I hear on higher powered setups the torque twist while jumping can get nasty on the designs like the 502, and it should be interesting to see how this does! Even if it's too much friction it's a cool design, love Tamiya always being a little different.

The 501 still retains the belt design so there's no torque twist issue.. but interesting to offer both.. Tamiya is not afraid to have a whole bunch of stuff on their line up for sure..

I wonder if moving forward what design they favor, sticking with the shaft or moving back to belts? For the TRF 1/10 4wd segment.

Hrmmmm. Seems like I am inheriting a Flux Wire Welder as part of my belated birthday when my dad's in town this weekend. Any ideas on some first projects? Been thinking about a roll cage for the Maxx for when I get it running, or maybe even using the parts from it and trying my hand at making a custom rail buggy? Maybe later down the line try doing an RC jet dragster modeled after Art Arfons' "Cyclops"?

What you don't know? Oh that's right because Tamiya Interns don't get to learn about new products. Besides it would be like 5000$

So since it was so nice out I decided to run some nitro. I took out that newer Slash nitro 2wd, which is crazy fast, it weighs about the same as the electric 2wd and has that 3.3 engine which actually is quite decent.

Was doing some speed runs and tuning the engine to full potential. Got it going really well, and just as it hit top speed it took off like an airplane. Was so funny flipping in the air. Might have to lower it or something when running it onroad hah. Going to try and take some bashing pics tomorrow of a few of my RC's we will see depending if many children are around.
