Done and done

Although I will say my bead screams "ROOKIE" I've managed to weld random things made of scrap steel to other random hunks of scrap. I've already learned/taught myself quite a bit in the last 24 hours since I got home. Looks like not too much longer I can add welding exhausts and such to my list of can-do's in my home mechanic shop

Next step is....more practice hehe I can be accurate, that part is dead simple, learning to lay a good solid bead and no burn-thrus is next!

Or try your luck with just making a straight weld.

Hrmmmm. Seems like I am inheriting a Flux Wire Welder as part of my belated birthday when my dad's in town this weekend. Any ideas on some first projects? Been thinking about a roll cage for the Maxx for when I get it running, or maybe even using the parts from it and trying my hand at making a custom rail buggy? Maybe later down the line try doing an RC jet dragster modeled after Art Arfons' "Cyclops"?

Great! Before ya know it, you'll be welding together RC frames. It'd be really cool if you did a 4x4 buggy simular to the Exo Terra. Also my weld screams rookie, but I'm learning more and getting better. Learning to weld takes time! I can get a nice pool started, but sometimes I drag it a little too fast and get a thin bead here and there. But I'm getting to be more steady.

I've got thoughts of two, maybe three projects in mind for the future. I've been thinking about doing a RC Rock bouncer, possibly a rail buggy, but tops on the list is as close as I can get to a carbon copy of Art Arfons' "Cyclops" jet dragster!

Tower, I needed the diff balls, thrust bearings and rings. Everything else was replaced, he added a slipper to the deal, but after he destroyed the diff with a 5700 motor.

Is the lipo coming from overseas?

Interesting to note, there isn't a center diff per say, just gears to drive the propeller shafts in opposite directions to avoid torque twist.

Sweet, I'll have to read that - thanks!

Hah, it's been a while, eh?

I'm looking forward to my next soldering job, since I got a nice little Weller soldering station for Christmas. I've only used it once so far.

Awesome!!! Work gave me my W-2 today, so tonight I will be filing my taxes. Hope I get it back in 3 weeks like last year. Pretty excited though. New tires on the Hyundai and Camry, new rear brakes on the Hyundai, pay for transmission, get an Ofna Lx2e rtr and lipos, parts for my XS to get that up and running again, and other stuff lol.

Waitin on our W2's too. Buying a sectional and end tables for the living room, and gonna get a new mower so I can retire my ancient T-handled MTD Cougar and start doing some restoration work on it. Pretty sure it's from the mid-late 60's, and still starts the original engine with one or two pulls haha
