ORIGINAL: rc junky 73 Yeah I never thought about that. All my Hpi's have throttle returns but this one did not. Scary man, i live across from a decent size park with that pond. It's usually full of kids, glad they where in school. Kind of taught me a lesson to go find a more secluded place to run these things and not around other people OH well, over with now and no one got hurt so guess that is all that matters. yes it was an 810 now it's a submerine. quote:

ORIGINAL: rc junky 73 If anyone cares, I'll never again buy a Losi! Pure junk! This all happened within one gallon of nitro. Clutch shoe's (double clutch with one spring). Steering Servo in which I had to take out the whole radio tray to get to the threads that fall into the chassis as you take out the screws. Carburator HSI came loose and some how stripped it self out, plastic junk! At least 9 pull starts I put in. After I replaced both servo's (if your doing one might as well do them all right? I took it out for a test run. I have a huge pond by me about 40 feet deep. (have a few hello's at the bottom also back in the day of learning to fly, lesson 1, don't fly by water. Anyways got the car half a block down the road, was turning it around and it just took off on me full throttle, tried break 100% nothing, tried to steer out of it with no luck, finally shut off radio praying for fail safe to kick in, it never did. jumped the curb, caught about five feet of air and launched itself into the pond. Piece of ******* ****!! My wife recored it with her iPhone, if you guys want to see it, I'll post it. I have not had the heart to watch it yet but that was a week ago so i think I am ready. Anyways bought the new Blade MQX and LOVE IT! Already doing rolls (in big parks). Time to rebuild the 3 speed transmission in my HPI Savage XL and get that running. I also learned that anything with Team Associated means no hobby shop is gonna stock nothing for it. I'm returning about $250 worth of parts I ordered for the Losi from AmainHobbies. I was starting my own stock wall. you had a losi 810 right? first off, everybody knows or learns in short order that stock servos suck. it doesnt matter what company made it or how much you paid, they are the fist thing to replace. that runaway you had, did you still have steering? if you did, i had the same experience with a different rc. the culprit was in fact the fail safe. it had a loose plug and my throttle servo came unplugged at full throttle. if you didnt, rx pack may have come unplugged. electronic fail safes dont work without electricity. thats why you should always rig a throttle return spring. the only thing that can make that fail is a rock (jamming the throttle open). i was at the bmx park a few days ago, running my last couple tanks of nitro in my t-maxx, there was a few kids on the hills so i was running in the stuff they couldn't ride in (tall weeds) it was great fun, some banked turns, some huge jumps, a set of triples and then suddenly the car takes off at full speed, thankfully into a crapload of weeds where it got stuck, i thought the batteries got low or the linkage bent, got over to the car and it was working fine, i then pulled the starter and found out the throttle servo jittered to the movement, i then started tapping the car with a rock and then the throttle servo glitched until it went WOT. return spring, 2.4gz AND a fail safe and i still had almost a dangerous runaway, this is why you must try to run where even if the worst happens, no one is going to get harmed, and this is why im a little nervous around 1/5 rigs.
