What's so funny? The Astro makes the most sense...it's a managable size and relatively fuel efficient and reliable.

If ThunderbirdJunkie could swing a '12 Sprinter he'd get one, but that ain't gonna happen

If you take the rear seats out and make it a cargo hauler, it's a load of fun in the snow, kicking the back end around all over the place.

I might know this from experience.

I used to keep up with the lounge but it moves too fast and I dont have the time to always keep up. I am thinking a name change tho, if they will allow me. I want to stick with my German pride but I am starting to see where people may have issues with Himmler...   Any suggestions? Maybe RCKraut or something, FahrtAutoRC?

ThunderbirdJunkie rarely uses 4wd in his Jeep in the snow and for years drove nothing but V8 powered, rear wheel drive vehicles year round....he shouldn't have a problem. Plus the van will get a set of decent tires as soon as he gets it.

Uh-oh....I can hear the gears in LB's brain grinding from the other side of the world....."hmmmm...If it's got enough tow rating....I could use it and get a track trailer and trick it out for both the Porsche and the Duc.... "

Lower end ones had a 3300 lb capacity ITBJRC while if equipped with the towing package (limited slip, trans cooler, etc) it'll pull 5k pounds.

So I'd probably need a bigger van... ha.. need some head room in the tow rating.. an aluminum race trailer (open) with gears will probably be like 1,000-1,200 lbs (depends on how many set of wheels / tools / gas you bring). Plus the car, you'd be at 4,000-4,500 range.

Obviously all the full size truck would have like 7k lbs+ of towing capacity. Those will be fine. In theory, something that can tow at 5k should be fine. I have seen people towing trailer using the like of Honda Pilot / etc. But probably not as much head room there...

LB, a diesel Econoline 350 or Chevy 3500 or Sprinter would probably be ideal for what you want.

And you don't want an aluminum trailer. ThunderbirdJunkie can't find the picture he took of why, but trust him on this

I think you'll be fine too - I enjoyed the Astro in the winter back in the day. Tons of fun.

Why wouldn't you want aluminum trailer? They are lighter and doesn't rust, no?! (the only penalty being the $$$)

Generally not as strong. ThunderbirdJunkie's seen a couple actually break, and realistically, as long as you keep it out of salt and keep it clean, a steel trailer shouldn't rust, either.

Yeah, but if I get a trailer, it might have to stay in the driveway.. no room in the garage..

I need to add another 2 car garage for sure.. LOL!
