Status: offline 		Has any one ordered the new 50cc ESM ME-109. I might get it the end of next week and I 'am just wondering if anyone else may already have one. I e-mailed Lenny at Shinden retracts to see if his might fit and I 'am waiting to hear back. This has got to be one of the best ARF renditions I have seen on the ME-109, I know there are going to be a lot of problems building it but I have already built 4 of their kits so I 'am aware of what I 'am geting into , but this baby looks to good not to try it.

I have one and am about 2/3rd's the way through building it. It is a nice model and whilst it still has the crapy ESM manual they all have there is nothing complex. The wings are a two piece plug in like the P-40 and require 6 sevos in total (2 ailerons and 4 flaps), elevator and rudder are cable pull/pull to reduce tail weight. ESM make a spinner for the model as it is 6.5 inch (which I don't have yet, waiting from the factory so I can't comment on quality). Ty said he would be looking at making a cockpit kit in a few weeks so in preparation I'm relocating my elevator/rudder servos lower in the fuselage to allow for the depth of the cockpit floor. The finish of the model is very good. It still has a few little things that need a tweak as most ARF's do. I'm using the stock ESM retracts and they look fine but haven't been tested yet. Cheers,

Status: offline 		Hey Dave thank you for the info. I did not know It was a 2 piece wing. I did not like that set up on the P-40. How was the fit with the wing and wing tube. Did you have a chance to look how the tail wheel is set up ? I also built their Val and the set up was terrible for the tail wheel. I also replaced all their cables and hardware. The cable snapped on the rudder after the 1st flight. The planes flys good now and it is a real floater.

The fit of the wings was good except for the left wing which had a slight blob of resin in the wing sadle at the back. Two seconds with the small sanding drum on the dremel and it was gone. Both wings seat fully and look to have the same incidence at the root (mark one eyeball until I get the meter on it). I always ditch that cable ESM supply (I know people that have used it doubled up and not had an issue) but I prefer to use 80lb fishing trace with a SWB wire tensioner kit at the elevator end. If you haven't seen these they are well worth a look. They eliminate any sharp bend in the cable where it can rub and fatigue. The tailwheel supplied is a simple wire affair like the P40. I'm going to replace mine with something a bit more scale looking but light weight (not sure what yet but will sort something out). Some of the hardwar is useable but I prefer to mostly use Dubro as if I go away flying somewhere I can always grab a replacment from a nearby hobby shop if needed. Cheers,

Hi Dave, did you have any choice in retracts? I have seen the demo video and they are way too slow for my liking. I am hoping that Sierra will be making retracts for this model. You sound pleased with the kit though, is there a lot of room in the cowl? It would be nice to see what you have done so far.

Status: offline 		I wonder if the Sierra retracts for the Meister Platinum 109 will fit.... I plan to cut open the mid section of the underside of the fuse.

In order to install the Sierra Platinum 109 retracts in the fuse. (Or, if it doesnt fit, if it is too wide, some other retracts.)

So it can stand on its wheels, you just have to slide on the wings at the field.

Are anyone in position of taking some photos of this area? Between the wings, underside of fuse, front area , where the legs would have to be installed?

Status: offline 		Lenny at Shinden might be able to make the retracts for the ESM 50CC ME-109. I E-Mailed him and he might have a set that will fit, he just needs some measurements to be sure or he can make them and he is very reasonable. and excelent quality. I had a pair of retracts made by him for my Holman FW-190 D-9 and he did a great job. They had very beefy and scale looking struts.

Status: offline 		I just found out that the esm retracts can be sent to Lado for a new jack screw, this will speed them up since the new screw is coarse thread...how much faster is yet to be seen.

Status: offline 		OK guy's, here are the pictures of the ESM 109. Kwik, you could possibly place the gear in the centre of the fuselage via the bottom. Inside where it would locate is between the rear former for the engine tube and the front of the box built around the wing spar. It would be a fair amopunt of work but do-able. If anyone would like any more pic of specific things please post and I'll try to get them on here in a timely manner

Status: offline 		I love it Dave!! Your pics are much more revealing than the stock photos...have you timed the retract speed yet or are they air operated? If they are electric I'm curious to whether they are any faster than the B-25 sets.
