Hi Guys.
I am just wondering what you guys are carrying for insurance. I of course have AMA but also have a separate umbrella policy. It is that time of year again for me to renew the Umbrella Policy and it got me wondering if anyone else has one. What is the feeling on carrying extra insurance? Do you feel it is needed?

Your poll is missing an option. I have homeowners insurance with AMA coverage as a secondary policy. Which is how AMA insurance works

In today's litigious world, I don't think you can have too much insurance. I have a homeowners and an umbrella policy. It's pretty easy to be wiped out by a lawsuit.

I was always led to believe you cannot insure the same thing twice, for fear that neither will pay out

That depends, some of us have primary coverage through the AMA. CD's, Leader members, club officers, LMA inspectors and a few others are given this coverage.

Hi Tony,

I was under the (probably mistaken) impression that the first dollar (primary) coverage for officers was coverage for their official duties, not for their normal (sport) flying. getting sued as a CD, or a large model inspector, club official etc.

I warn you ahead of time before I redirect you here! Good luck with that thread, I gave up!

About the only way I can think to make the AMA insurance primary is to have exclusions written into your homeowners/PUP that excludes model airplane activity. Not sure if that would work in any case.
