I am getting ready to paint my Ford Gt40 body. I am using non metaillic blue with two white stripes. I am going to mask the stripes with tape, paint the blue in mulitple coats, remove the mask and hit the stripes. Couple of questions:

-Do I need to back both colors when I am said and done? What color?
-The proline body didn't come with window trim decals, so I was going to cut some of the window mask off for the trim and paint black. When should I do this? First, after or before the backing?
-I want to tint the windows and headlight covers, I was going to use black paint and practice, then paint. Once again, this should be done absolutely last, correct?

Thanks for any input.

Mask the windows and stripes.

Paint the blue.

Remove the stripe mask.

Paint the wite and back the blue with white also.

you might want to back the white sith silver to stop the black from darkening it, or just put on plenty of white (several coats not one bit one)

Then cut the window masks and spray the black.

Remove the window masks and if you want to tint the shell do it now.

I wouldnt recomend usign canned black to tint the windows it will turn out too dark or very blotchy. Everybody who ive seen try this has ended up with black windows as it went wrong.
Best to use an airbrush with thinned paint or buy a can of window tint.

Ok, I painted the blue and stripes. I still ahve the window masking on the body. I can't decide how I want to do the windows. I really want to finish off with window trim, but am not sure if I want risk ruining my body. Is it pretty easy to cut back the masking? Or should I just buy some thin pinstriping and do it from the outside?

It depends on how sharp your knie is and how good you are at using it.

It might be worth pacticing before hand on some scraps if your not sure if you can do it.

I find it helps allot to draw the line with a fineliner before I cut.

actually automotive window tinting works great.

the spray on tinting doesn't look nearly as nice...
