He said most of his business came from magazine ads and very little from on-line.

Then why does he bother to go to some lengths to find ways of posting on the various sites where he has been banned? He posted a bunch of adverts over at RC Groups under a number of pseudo-names and even going so far as to tell folks they should hurry up and order before his threads got yanked by the mods.

Don't know, I'm not a psychologist.
I asked him basically the same question, and just relayed his response. Draw your own conclusions.
I would only ask the question, "how well has this tactic worked so far?".
I do hope it works out.

This thread has had 10,000 views....maybe 1000 "unique" views..? This thread has done some good.
RCU provides all of us with real time consumer advocacy thanks to responsible members who take the time to keep their fellow members informed.
There are countless reputable and totally honest hobby industry peddlers out there who have nothing to fear from the internet forums because they are 100% honest and accountable, even when occasional goofs get made.
Who knows how many "SHEEPLE" types who are too timid, intimidated, etc. to report bad dealings with vendors....for fear of being labeled as "TROLLS" on the interwebs..... ..?

Read the stuff on this web site that Curtis has set up.

If this does not convince you about working with this guy, then nothing will.

http://rctruth.com/

I would be really interested to see what proof you have that RC Truth is Curtis' web site ?

And not just some BS ''a friend of a friend of a friend told me it is Curtis' site'' , , , I want real and actual proof .

Now , and without attacking the person whose ''just lookin for the facts , the whole facts , and nothing but the facts'' , Present your evidence to support your allegation .

That is a rather strange request given that Curtis is all over the site like a rash and "everyone knows it's his site". EasyTiger , Admin and half a dozen sock puppets are all Curtis and you can tell that a whole bunch of threads are just Curtis having a chat with himself

I have no real problem with him or that site (which is quite entertaining) myself. Curtis has some good looking reasonably priced models - see his marketing attempt at RCG alluded to earlier: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1793033&pp=100#post23586592

My advice to Curtis would be to specialise is sourcing, merchandising and marketing stock (which he is good at) and hire a Customer Services officer (maybe part-time) to focus on keeping customers advised of delays and reasons etc. For example, I know a bit of background causing the delays to the DR1 delivery that generated this thread. This was a new product and there were some performance and production issues that had to be sorted out causing the delay. The drop-shippping aspect was always a problem too, although Curtis seems to be getting more products in stock now. People are generally understanding if they know what's going on and are kept informed as they often have experience in their own lives of similar situations.

Curtis obviously went to the "Basil Fawlty" school of customer relations and he brings alot of problems on himself un-necessarily, but I believe he recognises this and his business does seem to be going well with a higher degree of open-ness apparent of late with appearances at trade shows and fly ins. As mentioned in this thread, I guess its a case of knowing who you are dealing with and acting accordingly.

It's nice to put a face to a name - is this the gentleman of which we speak??

Ok , So , almost 24 hours have passed since I asked for proof of this statement . So far , Combat pig has responded , KiwiKid has responded , and still no real evidence to prove Curtis is the Admin of RC Truth .

For all you know , I could be the Admin , and none of you would have a clue ! It's easy to toss around guesses and ideas , but lets just keep them at that , cause that's all they are , guesses ....

Now , If anyone else has any SOLID PROOF as to whose really behind RCT , I'm all ears ..............

I've  been reading all the threads about Easy Tiger, everything that has been said is right. I ordered an airplane back in 2011 for $425.00 and never received it, I went through all the paperwork to see about getting my money back still nothing. I've e-mail Curtis several time no response.

Sure would like to receive my plane.

Init4fun if the evidence sat right before your eyes, which it is. You would probably still deny the truth, which happens alot on that pathetic site. It's obvious your not the owner of that site, you don't have admin privileges on the easytigermodels forum that admin (easytiger) copy and pasted to the other site with ip information.

One thing I find funny, easytiger (admin) is saying all them usernames on that site are me. What's even more funny, as you can see I am not banned from here. On Rcgroups I asked to have my account closed, banned or whatever. I was not literally banned like you were from Rcgroups. Considering my post count here, you can see I'm just a viewer not much of a poster. I really don't care what is said about me, really! I have everything I need, that is all that matters to me.

Hey Ken, going just fine. I have not posted on the Easy Tiger forum in over a year so not sure what you mean but if you are saying that the Easy Tiger is the Admin of thruth site then you need to provide some proof or leave it alone. I can say the moon is made from green cheese and Martians live in your basement but without proof it don't mean much, it's just words.

I'm glad life has been treating you well. As for the evidence of easytiger being the admin of rctruth, I already know you guys have already seen it. When admin from Rctruth did a copy and paste job of a post from the easytiger forum, instead of the ip being showed as logged, the ip address was shown. The only way that can happen is you have to have admin powers on the easytigermodels forum to make this happen. If you or I would copy and paste a post from the easytigermodels forum to the rctruth forum the ip will show as logged. So easytiger got sloppy with his tracks and got busted!

Hi Ken ,

No sir , I can say in all honesty I did not see the "Great IP slip up" of which you refer . I do think it is fair to ask for proof when someone makes an allegation that is not easily proven and I'm not about to go believing things I read on the internet as God's law fact just because someone "thinks" something or other . I've seen far too many of these "facts" evaporate under the light of close scrutiny . Heck Ken , for all I know , YOU could be the Admin of RCT , staging your "protest" as a cover for your identity ! I know , Highly unlikely , but still remotely possible . Right ?

I will admit , I have no real interest in the identity of the Admin of RCT , Any more than I care to know the name of the owner of "Internet Brands" (the owner of RCU) Is it because the Admin doesn't want you to know his name that you have this burning desire to "out" him ? Does it really mean that much to you who runs some RC site ? What if it wasn't Curtis , but some other RCer you never heard of , would the name really be all that important then ?

You got caught over there using multiple Ids , one of only 3 rules he has . And because you got caught you won't give it up till ya "out" whoever is responsible . Really Ken , havn't you better things to do with your time than waste it on some silly useless Internet crusade , one with no real "end game" to be enjoyed ?

Go fly something , your blood pressure will thank you .....

Ok guys. Time to lighten up. Let's keep the personal attacks against each other out of the thread. If you can't discuss the thread topic without resorting to attacking those that you don't agree with then I would recommend that you refrain from entering into the discussion. Because the personal attacks against each other aren't going to be allowed. I've already gone back in and removed a bunch of posts where you guys starting to attack each other. If it continues I'll start dealing with those causing the problems directly.

Ken

It would appear that this discussion keeps pushing the RCU rules . Ok , Understandable .

Anyway , for all those who seem to have SO much to say about Curtis , I've got a little suggestion ;

He posts at RC Truth . This much is fact . If you have something to discuss with him , why not go and discuss it in a place where he can answer back ?

Maybe some of these supposed "facts" would evaporate when both sides could be heard ?

LATER ......

In my  opinion,  It seems that    "knlken"  just wanted to start something.     And now that he isn't going to get his way,  he's going to take his toys and go home.

I see no  great loss in his leaving.

I think this thread has met it's end.

Hi Frank, I'm sorry for coming off that way. I did not come here to start anything or stir up problems. I can fly the hell out jets and helicopters, I use to have a passion for this hobby. I lost my father the year before, and the hobby is now dead to me. It may come back later to me in the future, but my desire in this hobby has passed. I just seen someone here asking for proof of easytiger being the admin of rctruth and I responded, that's all. Easytiger just started a new username on that forum, wormburner, pretending it is me. I find it funny, actually! Anyway, take care of yourself, Ken is out.

I am truly sorry that you lost your dad but i have to ask, if your zeal for the hobby has left why continue to post on any RC hobby sites. Thay doesn't pass the common sense test and neither does your irrational dislike of Easytiger. You admitted that you never bought anything from him so what exactly did he do to you to piss you off so bad? I'm not talking about his dealings with other people, I'm talking about you personally.

No matter that he may have had bad dealings with anyone else because unless they are family it really dos not affect you in any way so really, what is it that drives you and your alter ego Sites to do this?

I am not siding with  Easy Tiger.   I don't know him personally, but what posts that I have read of his,  he doesn't seem like a bad sorta fella.   But there are always two sides of a story,  and I know there are some   pretty terrible customers out there in    internet land.    I've seen things posted by a  complainer that was now where near what really happened.   Just because they didn't get their way,  or get what they wanted,  they go completely    INSANE   and  start ranting, and making stuff up so they look good  and the retailer looks like a total   a$$.

On the other hand, I've seen some pretty  bad retailers also.

But,  if    Easy Tiger  is not here to give his side of the story,     I am going to give him plenty of  benefit of doubt.    We have seen no proof of any wrong doing,  only word of mouth   or it happened to a good buddy of mine.     And neighter one of those hold much water with me.

As for  Easy Tiger being the   administrator or owner of    Truth,    I have no idea and I don't care.    Remember,  this is the internet.   Anybody could be posing as you on  Truth.         I am dating a French model, she told me so.   I met her on the internet  !

Knelken,     my truest   condolences in regards of your father.     The hobby may be dead to you right now,  but  you'll  be back.

Frank

It's always good form to do your due dilligence before purchasing from any retailer you're not familiar with. When doing such research on the Internet you may be able to discount negative reports by one or two individuals as just digruntled buyers. More than that and you might be wise to dig a little deeper. My .02 cents.
