you know i didnt even think of that! that could be pretty interesting, i could try it. i might end up using a 4 channel rc plane transmitter and receiver so i could put in an extra servo to change the gearing ratio, my biggest problem is that i dont know enough about push bikes with what it seems as one single drive sprocket and multiple rear axle sprockets. im curious to how the chain does not come off when i changes gears because it would no longer be lined up perfectly... i will add this suggestion to my upgrade plans, so i wont concern myself with this at this point because this seems a little difficult at the moment, but later i will, at this point i wanna get the build done asap since it has taken me this long. thanks for the tip!

Hey guys I need some help, I'm trying to find a rear tire with tread so I can drive more offroad. I considered making the slick tire I have now into one with treads by just epoxying treads to it but I feel as though that may not work as well as I hope it to. Any ideas?

A Mini-ATV tyre or if you want something wider, a gokart wet tyre would probably be the go.
With the gokart tyre you could cut out some of the tread to give it more traction.

Or look at front wheels off a ride-on lawnmower.

bicycle chain is a different pitch, and has long thin links to flex over the length where de raillers work. Plus you pedal at way less RPM than a 2 stroke can.

Anything's possible.

You can do a dual chain setup with a jackshaft.

Use the original chain to go from the motor to a sprocket which is mounted on an axle.
Put the bicycle sprocket on the same axle, and have the set of sprockets from the rear bicycle wheel on the drive wheel of the RC car.

Yea so maybe I will think of making gears for it a ways down the road, anyways back to the tread thing, I'm trying to find a tire that will fit the rear rim so I wont have to change up any of my plans, cus having that rim and sprocket like they are is really handy.

Oh also I think I will be getting this radio for it because it is very cheap and has an extra channel that I can use for an engine kill....unless you guys know of any good reasons not to, I know it's not great but I'm low on money so yea... Also does anyone know the functioning range of this controller?

i fixed the A arms. i cut the 1.5 inches off of the length of each. now im basically waiting till i have my motor mount plate to be laser cut out and for my rear A arm to get bent up for me by a guy i know. i am trying to figure out the best way to build a servo saver but i keep running into problems, the style i am trying is the same as the one used on the first mammuth trophy truck( this video shows it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3tbPoSeLkQ&feature=player_embedded)

hey guys i have a slight problem that i thought maybe you could help me with. i need to cut the V's into 1/4 - 5/8 x 3/4 bushings that i got for the servo saver and i attempted to do it on a pipe with cutting wheel but was unable to make two that fit together and the bushings are like 2 bucks and i dont wanna keep throwing money away with this project so is there a better way to rig up something for this or a jig for holding everything perfectly straight or... I work at a fab shop but they really dont like me using the mills there for some reason.

i just got the suspension. i will have to do some modifications to the shocks. the springs are 750lbs per inch so i obviously cant use those. also there are little weld puddles inside of the shock body that i will have to grind down with hopefully a dremel. the biggest problem i will be having is re threading the stopper that hold the shaft and body together, they were tapped and threaded and then they decided they had to crimp it too so the threads got a little messed up when i unscrewed it. i already have some springs to try on it. once i have the suspension installed i will make a video.

Wow that is so cool.
Very tidy build.

Only thing I'm concerned about is the chain slackening issue.
But I'm sure you'll sort that out.
Well done!
Looking forward to seeing this run.

Lookin' good mate.....

do you think the front shocks should lean more up to the vertical plane than they are now?

Laying down that flat, they might not work as good as potentially possible.....just thinkin' out loud is all.

Do you have a body shell in mind? Kinda like the Can-Am trikes?

The body I am planning for it is the t-Rex motorcycle.
The suspension in the front is not necessarily permenant, its just tacked there for now to see how it works, if it doesn't work well I can just change it later quick and easy.
