Status: offline 		Ricardo - I picked up the no grommet thing from building BVM jets. I use washers and screws as you can see in the photos. BVM says that eliminating the rubber grommets produces a more solid connection between the servo and flight surface and reduces the risk of flutter. These servos are functioning in a nearly vibration free environment thus there should be no need for the damping effect of rubber grommets. I have been doing this for awhile without any consequence that I am aware of.

I'll be this sparks an ongoing conversation!

Thanks for the clarification, ok I'll try it on mine as well.
Also are you comfortable with 8411 servos on the stabs?!
What do you think about instal the stab servo just like the bandit ARF? Where the servo is assembled with the horn facing the stab tip and a cut out on the fuse side?
In this assembly we can install a 8711 class servo.

I am hoping that an 8411 will be fine, this is one of those times when it would be nice if one of the many CARF people who are following this thread would chime in. I considered turning the servo around as you suggest and cutting a hole in the fuse but i realized that the servo horm wouldn't line up with the control horns on the elevator.

Status: offline 		Just took delivery of my new Viper in Fantasy. I love Behotec retracts and after having the C36 in the Flash, I would like to use them again, but the heavier version. I have read that the ER50 haven't worked, due to depth. Have any of you used the Behotec C50F low profile gear? I guess the Nose gear would be turned around, but haven't asked Peter yet.

New C50F Retract Low Profile set for models up to 55 lbs
with a new forward retracting Nose unit
with optional servo steering adapter kit



The C50-F was developed for models with very thin wing profile,
e.g. (viper, Airmachi etc.) it is an air up air down system.
The design is extremely robust and is intended for models up to 25 kg (55lbs).
The large piston, with 20 mm inside diameter, allows for the use of large struts.
The retract body is a 1 piece milled to ensure extreme strength and rigidity.
The adapter hole in the trunion can acomodate 8,10,12.70mm adapter pins

The struts lock in both up and own positions and offers a retraction angle of 90°.
The nose gear trunion can also hold the optional servo steering adapter kit

I have this airplane with the gear that CARF sold for it and the gear is massive and very well done, there´s no reason to struggle trying to fit other type.

Status: offline 		I know I'm probrably overkiling, But I was not confortable at all with 8411 on the stab, the stab is huge!
So I decided to install 8711 in a BARF fashion, inverted on the stab with a hole on the fuse, turns out that's plenty of space to do this.

The aligment was perfect, I first made the hole for the horn aligned with the fenolic horn on the stab, the made the 1/4 ply wood servo base, assembly the whole thing, tack glued in place and the hysoled the ply bases with the stabs skins, tube and root.
Now I´m dealing with the rudder, how do you install the brass tube? Mine it´s much bigger, do i cut it on the top? And then how do i secure it on the rudder?
Also the instruction on the manual are very confusing, the ask to epoxy glue the treads of the ball link and a few other procedures that i did no fully understood.
Let me tell you what I did.
1-Unscrew the fenolic disc
2-Install the provided ball link with the M3 allen and put 2 nut on the back ( secure and locking nut)
3- Re-screwed the disc on the rudder.
4-And now I´m trying to install the link on the servo horn but there is a difference in high, the servo is lower then the push rods wiche causes a bad angle

I like how you did the 8711 on the elevators. Question though. Why are you still using the plastic servo arm, instead of aluminum? I have had the plastic splines fail on the gear of the servo, and always use aluminum arms on jets or the larger gas planes. You are using the proper servo, but then your weak spot becomes the plastic arm? Just my humble opinion?

I notice that you all recommend to use JR SERVOS
in my country we usually use hitec servos and in the last year SAVOX servos came big time into our market
I want to use the wright servos for this expensive jet
please advice why did you choose JR

I have no good reasons for using JR other than their amazing repair service.

I also use Hitec and have had good luck with them.
