Benn flying R/C planes for about 4 years now,,,,,pretty much know about fuel for the birds,,,

Just got my son a Traxxis T-Maxx from a fellow flyer (traded right here on RCU), and am wondering about fuel for it,,

I use Omega 15% (pink) in everything I fly,, from .40 2-strokes to 120 four-strokes. Can I use the same stuff in the T-Maxx's .15 engine? If not, what makes the car fuel different? oil content? help me out here gang,, would really appreciate it,,

Thanks,
John

Yes, you can use Omega 15% in a car engine with hardly any problem. Compared to car fuel which contains 12% oil and 20% nitro, you will not have as crisp acceleration and your top end will not be as fast, and sadly your engine will last more than 3 gallons.

I use Omega 15% in my .16 car engine with no problem. My idle had to be adjusted a little higher because of the extra oil but it otherwise runs like a champ and I rather have a little extra oil than have to buy a new piston and sleeve every 2-3 months.

I have been using S&W 15% in a tower truck all last summer with no problems. Believe me this truck has been run countless hours by my son while I'm flying.

The normal buggy/car blends offered have between 10% oil and 14% oil content. This is fine if you want all the performance that the buggy engines can offer. The downside is the engines wear out quicker.
Using an airplane fuel, generally that contain 17% or more oil, will run just as good and the engine will last considerably longer. I know of only two Car/Buggy fuels that meet OS's buggy engine oil requirement (18%): S&W, Cooper's and one of the Monster fuels.
For the sport drivers, airplane fuel in the buggy engines is the way to go.
For all out performance for the seasoned driver, the best buggy fuel on the market (in my opinion) is the new one by Fantom Racing in both 20 and 30% nitro.

When I said S&W 15% I meant airplane fuel. Same container that I feed my Saitos with.

while we are on the subject. what about using car fuel in airplanes? I have two gallons of O'Donnell 10% nitro 18% oil. Not sure if it is straight castor, synthetic or a blend of the two.
If I were to add enough castor to bring the overall oil content up to 23% would it then be acceptable to run in our airplane engines?
