Status: offline 		I've been watching your build Jerry with great interest. It's something (JAE inspired ride surfaces on a tunnel) that has been in my my since Rod first showed me his ideas.

What is the piece on the bottom that has two small screws... is it a ride surface for inital launch? Is it at the same AOA as the front of your sponsons?

The two small screws are for added strength for the "chin" piece that fits under the front of the boat. It will be interesting to see how this boat launches. The Sport Hydroplane rules prohibit riding surfaces at the back of the boat.

I applied a coating of West Systems to the inside of the tub and sponson tops this morning. If the epoxy sets within the next 6 hours, I hope to coat the bottom of the hull this evening.

I had an opportunity to try the JVD 20 Sport Hydro today. I was able to get in three runs before deciding I needed to correct a problem with the flex cable wearing against the brass shaft tube. The boat launches easily, shows decent speed, and corners very well. Not too bad for completing a "Winter Build" 4 days before the official start of winter.

I hope to get in another test in the next couple of days.

Haven't touched the Pak hulls for a while as I've been busy on other projects such as getting the paperwork taken care of for a new job that starts in two weeks
That being said, I have gotten some work done on my 85 Executone, sponsons partially framed and the first cross frame is almost ready to go in. Here's a picture of the Executone sitting next to my 99 Miss Madison that I've been holding off on as I HATE FIBERGLASS WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Madison is going to need a custom cowl so I've got a plug and mold as well as the skid fin and vertical tail brackets to make before I can go much further on it. I'll probably end up spending several days at the mill when I get to the point where I have to have the metal parts so that the decks will be able to go on, not looking forward to that either

I finished doing a wrap on the sponsons and painting the cowling and there's still over 2 months left of Winter.

Status: offline 		Looks like I'm commited to building the Executone. Just ordered a cowl for it from Logan Unlimiteds of Lynnwood WA for $120. I could have gone to RC boat Company and ordered one for one for less, that is until you add shipping As many of you already know, it's a good thing to help keep local suppliers in business and, having seen Logan's work, I know first hand how exceptional the quality it is. Now I just have to have a little patience and then it's time to make some serious saw dust

Status: offline 		Fast forward to Nov 2012, For a winter build Im going with a JAE .12 G2 kit,
But with some hints from a G3 saw. And the dims from a FF12 Tom and I did back bout 03.

For oval build stock, Already proven design.

I recall JD is doin another "better mousetrap" hydro too,

I picked up a Zippkits A-box kit at the Hobart race that Gary Preusse won in the raffle. Since he does nitro only, I offered to buy it from him. Jerry Dunlap, being the generous person that he is, told Gary that he could now buy him dinner! I've built quite a few Zippkits kits over the years but this is the easiest one that I've had so far. My daughter-in-law wants to try running a boat so it might ened up by being for her to one day race.
For myself, I'm looking for yet another gas Cat, pretty much no holds barred but not sure which one. Right now it's a toss-up between the new T-44 Stryker or the CP Kat. Back in March I picked up a Warlock gas 'rigger with a Quick-Draw 25 HT from Kevin Sheren. Yeah, it's fast but still tweaking as there's more left in it.

Ya hit right in my bucket list buddy, Ive thought about a gas cracker since way back in tha day.
Just never got round to it. There was some guy doin them in glass, real fast design at Jim's.
I can remember the glass was a lite blue, then he went poof, never really found out why.

Status: offline 		I was leery about building a C-Box as the class has been fluctuating a lot around here. It did well at the beginning with just stock cannister engnes but then along came racers who wanted tuned pipes and mod's that just about killed the class. When you've got what's supposed to be a boat that you actually have to drive to one that runs like a Deep-Vee hull it kind of ruined it. now that some of the rules are going back towards the old days, it's coming back to life again. Pipes are allowed but still must run stock engines, usually Zen's. When Kevin sheren found out that I got one he told me to hang onto it as there are some changes coming. in the stock classes like Super-Sport, Thunderboat and Crackerbox, I just don't like being told that if I want to run in those classes that I must run Zenoah's.

The rules thang makes me dissy, Get a popular class and then add on the do's and dont's.

I run that combo on my Zippkit .12 rigger and it works very well!

Couple quick snaps of narrowed tub, Thats the stock width bottom sheeting for compairison.
Anyone else run a adjustable strut?

Status: offline 		I bought the adjustable strut for my .12 but didn't run it enough to see if it was needed or not.
Narrowing it is cool but the tub is part of what keeps it afloat when it needs to be. Mine didn't float well at all, the sponsons kept doing an iceberg imitation.

Status: offline 		Well what I did was plug in the dims from my FF 12 into the JAE kit.
Tub width now with no overhangs is 1 3/4" Stock with overhangs is 2 5/8"
Length is 22 1/2" and 1 1/2" high at the second boom.
And Im going for as lite a build as I can,
