I have a question, Which of these two turbines have more strength. The Rhino 160 or JetCat?
For I have heard people saying that they are equal and that the Rhino is stronger than the 160. Which of these two are better in performance?

I don't have any Jetcat turbines but I do have three (3) Rhino's.

I've always heard that Jet Central has a little bit more of power since their turbines and their thrust are measured at high altitude (Mexico city 7.300 ft). As you may know, with high altitude you have loss of performance so at a lower level you will have an increase and maybe you should be able to see more than the rated thrust.

Status: offline 		As for performance my Rhino never deliver on thrust 30#. may be someone else had better luck (I mean check thrust on a scale) but don't take my word for it. Do your own research, As for me I fell in love with this youtube video.

Both the Rhino and 160 are rated at 36#. I don't think you will be able to tell the difference between the two in flight. I think it all comes to reliability and service. Of course this is just my opinion.

Take a look at the Evo Jet 160 as another option. It puts out more power than the Rhino and uses 15 to 20% less fuel. I have not owned a P-160 so I can not comment on them but there are tons of fans out there flying them too. I have owned quite a few Rhinos and a EJ 160 and a 180 so can say first hand you would be very happy with the Evo, which in my opinion is superior to the Rhino.

Most modern Turbines are more or less equal, as others have posted.

I would think your decision should be who will offer the best service in your location

I never owned a Rhino but I would like to get one and as far as rated power, every Jet Central I tested with a thrust gauge (Rabbit and Cheetah) was pretty much as advertised.

I'm sure you will find one out of every batch (no matter who manufactured it) that may not perform to specifications.

Status: online 		As everybody have pointed out in here, service is a very important part of the equation.... specially in our part of the world. Here in Chile everybody flies with Jetcentral because of the incredible support that we get from Michel at www.jetsrc.com. Nobody in here that could help us with a Jetcat if we would have a problem and that's the only reason why we avoid them. Not because we don't like them. Same thing goes for other brands of turbines.

How are things in Brazil ?

Status: offline 		There is another factor you should consider - speed of throttle response. I have had 2 models facing disaster from stalls, poor placement over non runway. In one case it was a Mick Reeves Hunter with a Jet Central Eagle and in another case a Comp-ARF Lightning with a M160 (Rhino). In both cases the model just levitated @ 70deg from near standstill. In both cases the response was immediate and in both cases the response from spectators was "What a fantastic engine!". In both cases the model was no lightweight and in both cases immediate brute power saved the model.

In my book both those engines earned their keep in a few magical seconds.

Status: offline 		I was told by eric that the mammoth produces more than listed and I believe its due to testing location. So one would think the rhino would do the same. That's just guessing and my opinion who knows unless some test are ran to verify.

Status: offline 		From everything I've read, the Rhino puts out more than 36# of thrust. Asking which is better in performance on RCU will not get you useful answers. Do a search and you'll find pros and cons of each. For me reliability and service is #1, which is why I continue to buy JetCat.

eurofighter had rhino and unlimited verticle
f 16 jl 1/6 had jetcat 160 and vertical was not to my expectation

we swapped engines and tested rhino in f 16 and jetcat in euro and f16 was night and day on vert perfomance

but this was only my test
rhino it is

Status: offline 		I would say the Rhino is underrated. Have flown both, the major difference is throttle response / acceleration. Ther is no contest, the Rhino's ( as all the JC's ) ramp to rpm and response is far superior. It really makes a difference in the flight performance.

No question a slow-spooling engine can certainly lead to some sphincter-tightening moments. You can send out for a pizza in the time it takes my P-70 to spool up from idle.

I don't know what the difference is in spool-up time between the Rhino and the -160, but if it's not excessive, then as Andy pointed out less fuel consumption and less weight for the same thrust, might be the deciding factors for me.

A friend of mine and I have tested the Rhino and the JC 160, both turbines in both aircraft, an Airworld Cougar and a JL F-16, EACH aircraft had EACH turbine for a period of time in hot humid weather for a period of several months, and without any doubt, the Rhino blows away the JC in power. No if, ands or buts.

Status: offline 		I have two Rhinos, one was used several years ago when i bought it and before they offered a life time warranty. Its at JC now for service for the 1st time in 47 hours operation. Never had any issues with it and its always put out a great deal of power, I'd guess at least 36 pounds. In the end it comes down to who you want to deal with, all the top brands are likely very close.

Status: online 		If you're buying new then bear in mind that the Jetcat P160 is due to be replaced with the P180RX early next year.

I believe that this will be almost the same price and size as the P160 but with integrated valves, the new V10 ECU and more power.

Status: online 		Don't have a Rhino or SX160 but, do own a Jet Central Cheetah and JC 120SX the Jet central is much more powerful even though the advertised specs are the same.

"Not a rep for anyone, just an honest opinion from someone who has used both" Both engines run fine, the Life time warranty is what would seal the deal for me.
