Will I got the undercarriage complete, still need to make the wood strut covers over the gear strut wire,  and now start painting some of the crosses on.

Just to dang cold for me to go outside and set this airplane up for flight, unless we get a warm snap in the weather... otherwise looks like I well be doing more detail work on it.

I have the fiberglass cowl detailed and painted and the dummy air intake tube stubs installed behind the cowl on the fuselage. I like using the rubber backed washer under the screws spaced 3" appart to hold the cowl. Balsa USA sells the neat prop washers.

Here is what it is looking like, the next step for me to get it closer to fly is to balance the airplane.

I got to get some guns yet, along with Ace of Iron pilot and some leather trim around the cockpit opening. Still have more work to do on covering the wire wing and geare struts with wood struts, also need to make the wheel gear wing.

I took pine about 1" wide and grooved it 1/4" on the back, so it can be slipped over the wire struts for a better appearance.

The weather was not bad today so I got the first flight in before the sun went down, seems to fly good, airlon trim was dead on, elevator needed some down trim which is typical on most of these old timers. Now I can finish the detail on the dash, got a 1/3  Ace of Iron pilot on order, and need to get couple machine guns.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCBrBlxSHOs

Charlie, you know I had planed on using a G-62 when I started this project, but ended up installing a Q-75 becuase I got a good  deal on couple larger used engines..   My impression after I made the first flight was that I did not need the Q-75 in it after all.. That is my friend making the second flight while I worked the camera, he likes it with the Quadra 75,, the big thing is that with a G-62 it would be hard to put it through all the areobatic manuvers he likes to fly, like the rolls without loosing altitude..  I think it well be ok either way, keep us all posted on which way you go, George.

That is what I am thinking Charlie, not $32, I got billed $39 each, not shure what it was with postage, well over  $70, threw the bill away in the trash quick so I would not be reminded, sure looks like inflation is taking hold of prices and the wages keep going down for new hires..
