I'm looking at the Aeroworks PROBRO 260 with a DLE 20.

Anyone flying a 20cc ARF?

Thanks
Bob

Redwing RC is coming out in Dec. with a 20cc Sbach Profile for $175 or $399 with a DLE20 combo. Looks pretty sick! 20cc Sbach

Great looking deal...I just hope they build them straighter than the ones in that picture.  The top view of the orange fused version sure looks like it has a bit of banana in it.

Do their planes have a decent reputation for flying etc?

I noticed Valley View has a 20cc Yak in this months AMA magazine.
Any poop on that one?

Thanks
Bob

I've flown the VV Yak with a DLE 20. It flies decent; the one I flew was a bit heavy, and that's the knock on most of these sized setups. The Aeroworks and the VV Yak are both a little on the heavy side for the wing area for good 3D performance. If that's not what you're looking for, they are a great sport plane that will do some 3D.

The one I flew coulda been made lighter; it used both an ignitiona and receiver pack. I would definitely go with one of the IBEC setups to save the weight of the ignition pack and switch; anything else you could do to make them lighter would make them better fliers. Power with the DLE20 isn't the issue; weight/wing loading is...

Bummer on the weight thing.
I am looking to thrash it and do 3D though.

I have a couple 35% planes, but don't always have the time to make a day of it.
Lookin for something quick and easy to get out to the field with.

Hmmmmm....

DLE20 on one of these might be interesting...Sabre 56 I've seen the 56 on both 4 stroke and 6S electric, and either way, it's a great flyer!

Go to the ProBro website, there is a several flying both the Sabre 56 ARF and the Mojo 60/65 Kits on 20cc gassers. These 2 airframes will definately float and 3D to the max. They are purposely built for it and tough, Sabre has lots of cf reinforcement and the Mojo has cf tubes in the fuse, for those less than perfect landings.

No experience with RWing's Profile as it's not out yet, but I've flown several of his 30cc size ARF's and they are great. Lightweight, around 10# max with a DLE-30. Lots of cf in these as well, construction similar to 3dhs if your familiar with them. DG

Thanks for the reply.

Not sure what to do at this point.
Concensus is that the two 20cc ARF's out there are heavy.

If I have to build something I might as well go with the 30cc WrongWay RC Laminar Yak.
I already have a DLE 30 in a SLICK and I can just change everything over.

Take care
Bob

If you want to build, the Mojo65 or other "60"size slabs are a good candidate for the DLE 20; they have more wing area than the commercially available ARF's. The Bro site has more info on that stuff...

I've been flying a 3D profile called a Razor Yak with an OS 120AX, which is a 20cc engine. There was a limited kit run by the designer of the Razor Yak, and OMP made ARFs of them awhile back.

Hey Guys - The 20cc Sbach is a fun little plane.  No "bananna" Tmore

Must be an optical illusion or something.  The prototype and the others we've built have been straight as an arrow.  I can send you some pics shooting straight down um.

CG is best on the tube or just aft.  It will 3d well.  V1, has very few changes from factory specs.  If we do v2 we have some ideas up our sleeves.  It's a great little plane, especially with the price

let us know if you have quesitons

For what it's worth, I've had all sorts of 3D'ers, yak, edge's, extras and many profile type as well. By far my favorite is swanyshouse. I've had his burrito, taco, mojo 40 and now have a primo 60 on order. The 60 is a great canidate for a 20cc. I will be useing a RCGF 20cc beam mount. You want extreme 3D? It's the way to go. Go ProBro!

Slightly dated thread, I know...
Currently flying:
- 20cc gasser on my Mojo60
- 6S electric on my new-to-me Mojo60
- 6S electric on my EE60

On the board:
- 12S electric on my WrongWayRC 50cc
- .15 glow on my LamYak15
- 20cc or 6S on my MadEdge540

SwanysHouse, WrongWayRC, HazzBro, Frisbee/Backslider, Texas Hobbies, Spaz... (and I'm not even into the bipes yet!) all build great stuff that will out-last, out-fly, out-3D and out-COOL just about any ARF on the market.

Hey Dave!

What's your call for a 2-stroke gasser that would take a Bud or Coors Light bottle for the NitroJ sound on gas?
I'm sick of this 4-stroke Rube Goldberg BS (Saito FG-20) on my Mojo... I think I'll sell the whole rig to someone who likes 4-strokes and do a removable wing MoAss with a BCP, but I gotta fly gas.

Hey, since this thread is old but started out asking about 20cc slabs, have we forgotten about Brian's EE series? My EE60 is stoopid ballistic on 6S electric, but I know Brian designed it around a 20cc gasser.

Here is the 20cc gas Profile I am currently flying. Infact I just finished assm. two of these Aerobeez 20cc 65" Yak 54 Profiles One has the Mintor 22cc and the other has the DLE 20cc both have profile style mufflers here are two short video's
# 1 the take off  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8LyDsH9eFg&feature=plcp  , and this video later the ssame day winds were gusty at 5 to 15 a not so great Hover to landing  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mITfeMbM3co&feature=plcp
The engines are very close to the same power, but the Mintor runs, and transitions smoother, and does not have the tendency to load up at midrange like the DLE does
