Hi Guys,

Count me in. Just a H9 1/5 Scale Cub with floats. I ripped off the decals and put my own on. Now it's a Navy NE-1. Does that kick me out of the Cub Club before I even get a chance to join? What number am I (or would I have been?? )

Bob

It is possible to cover one whole side including half the top. Heres mine with the right side. With koverall it went pretty easy.
Cubman I'll be here when those L-4's are done.

Sorry guys for the delay on the L-4 plans. I now have access to Inventor 2009 pro and I'm trying to get the files converted over. this will be best as it allows me to design the plane in 3D very cool but i'm at a learning curve as I have never used inventor. Any inventor users out in the cub world?

Count me in. I have a newly completed 1/4 SIG Cub with OS FT-160 Twin. A friend helped me maiden it this fall and now the weather is holding me up. I used a lot of the mods from Cubman and Waconut's SIG 1/4 build thread.

thanks for the photos. they'll help a lot. i've already been browsing the manual for the sig cub kits as well. the only issue i see having with doing mine, is that i already have the horizontal stab installed, so i will be using paper to make templates for each section before rough cutting the fabric. it's either that or i do the top from the side stringers up, each half, then do each side from there down. does it matter 'scale wise' where the pinked tape goes on the fuselage? i see from the photos above where it was installed, but i haven't seen actual aircraft photos of where it is, and can't see well enough on any aircraft on airliners.net. did you use some scale outline for applying it?

Crash,
The tapes went over the fabric where it contacted the fuse structure ie: all the longerons and stringers. It is also around the door openings. If you piece the faric for the top and keep you overlap to the minimum the reinforcement tapes will cover the seams. All the seams on my Cub are hidden under tapes. Makes for a very scale appearance and also keep any edges from lifting on you forever.
Later!!
Anthony

Nice job on the fin. When you cover that fin there are areas where one does NOT want the fabric to adhere to the wood. Somebody told me to color that area you do NOT want the covering to adhere with a yellow crayon. Like magic, the covering will not adhere on that area.

Nice job. My 1/4 scale cub is covered in 21 century fabric. I love that stuff, it is very easy to use, and it is pre-painted, saving a lot of weight. Besides, it never wrinkles...

jkr 1100, it is a sig 1/4 clipped.
GerKong, I only attatch the fabric to the perimeter. After that when I spray the adhesive/filler it will adhere the fabric only where it is touching wood.
Ditto what WacoNut says on tapting and the such.

I am very excited. I will be starting a Sig 1/4 clipped for the new year. I think I will carve a model of Hazel Sig, and do the blue and white theme. I am very excited. I have my Saito 180 ready to put in this beast. this will be a lot of fun. Scale details must be maxed out.
