Hi guys, I am getting ready to redo one of my Eflite Super Airliners with the new 70mm 10 blade fans from Change Sun. I posted a few pic's of them nice fans and rotors. They come with a 3.2 & 4mm shaft adapters. Gonna glass the whole jet with 1/2oz F/G and WBPU. Putting in electric retracts, lights and a new paint job. I fly off a grass field so these fans will have the extra pull I will need in the spring and summer when the grass is a bit thicker. Gonna run the Sapac D2842 3100Kv motors, 2x 4s 3300 40C packs. From what I have read on here they will pull about 95 amps at about 1400 watts each side at WOT. So total will be about 2800 watts and about 6 1/2 to 7 pounds of thrust total. I won't need all that power in the air but it's nice to know it's there if needed. Should fly real nice at 1/2 throttle and I hear these fans sound real nice. Not that high pitched sound like many of the high power 70mm fans make but that swoosh sound like a turbine.

I been running the rotor in my CNCalloy housing, here is a snapshot of the fan and figures. I would be surprised if you got 95 amps on a 3100Kv motor, look forward to seeing the results.

I cleaned up the rotor blades, machined the front for the alloy spinner and it didnt take much positional adjustment on the adapter before she was dead smooth right the way up the rpm range. Had to balance the spinner but thats minor. Tomorrow will fit it to a wemotec housing and bolt it to the test stand to get some thrust measurements, I expect around 1.5kg out of this combo. Running an HET motor but not saying much about it yet until I have the results confirmed and tested. I will be listing the fan as an Extreme CNC 70mm Turbofan on the website soon as testing is done. It sounds nice, the low rpm helps a lot, still has a whistle from the motor and electrics but the back end is all wooooosh!

Oh and the stock housing is pretty average, very weak around the motor mounts, its a basic nylon molding, I would not trust it over 700w or so, fatigue will cause failure I reckon.

I just finished transplanting it into my old beater F16, ready to remaiden tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing it in the air, I pulled a wemo/2W18 setup that did 135mph on 850 watts, this is running around 900-950w so if it gets even close in speed I will be happy.

I had some time today and ran up the fan in my test stand. Damm this fan put out real good power. My motor is the Sapac silver can D2842-3200Kv, Battery is a 4s 3300 40C Sky Lipo and H/W Pentium 80 amp ESC. I got 1249 watts at 89.7 amps. I could not get the RPM's as I was inside my house and the light is not right to get a good reading from the optical tac. I also did not like the looks of the stock housing mounting holes. So what I did was grind down washers to fit the mounting slots holes. In other words I squared off the washers to get more grip area around the mounting holes. Balanced the rotor (BTW it was all most perfect out of the box) and put two small flat spots on the shaft. Pop it in the test stand and went to town. Yes this fan is quiet as all he!! for a 70mm fan for sure. Below are a few pic's of my test stand as you can see it not a light weight stand. It's all metal with the wood mounted on top. I was testing it on my kitchen table and it started to move the whole stand over the table . This was with the battery even mounted on the stand so I put it on my scale. Weight was 9 1/2 pounds. So this fan was moving all that at just over 1/2 throttle and smooth as silk to boot. Not bad for a 15 buck fan .

Ok, Just retested my set up with a full charge on a 4s 3300 40C Sky Lipo pack. Here's what I got on my Power Pro analyzer for the first 15 sec.

Great power, for sure! It certainly is AMP hungry, though. And I thought my E-Flite Delta V-15 with their 3600kv motor was AMP hungry. We might get 3 minutes of flight out of this setup on 4S-5000mAh.

I just ordered a pair of these for my LX A-10. I'll run them on 6S on the stock motors (2100kv)

Did a small video of the fan on my test stand. You can hear it get quieter as more power is put into it. As you can see in the video it's got real good power out the back end of the fan lol. I like this fan for sure gonna get a few more of them next week.

Fans like this require really careful motor matching, not just Kv but motor size, design, quality of materials. Get the right motor and the fan sings and offers pretty good efficiency, sure its never going to match a wemo for thrust vs watts, but I have got it to around 1.61g/watt, not bad for 10 blades. When you see it in action though, well the video below says it all

My F16 setup is pushing 1.46kg thrust on the test stand with inlet lip, no exhaust. It takes 926 watts to get this. The Wemo/2W18 combo will push the same thrust at 795 watts. So the 10 blade is not an efficient design compared to the benchmark fans, but its an acceptable increase in watts as the end result is the F16 looks to be doing the same sort of speed as it did with the old setup. I have since tested other motor combos and get the figures down to 867 watts for 1.42kg thrust which is about the best efficiency I think we will see for now.

The combos are going up on my website over the next few days, one is already up there. I bought all the alloy spinner stock from the factory this week and should have them next week, also ordered more shaft adapter blanks so I can make up precision adapters to suit if I feel they are needed. I have invested quite a bit of time and money into this project so wont be listing up the motors I am using just yet.

Just an update on the 4 cell setup I am building, after a lot more testing I have optimised it as much as I can and now getting 1.42kg thrust at 860 watts, so we are down over 60w for a loss of only 40 grams in thrust, in the air no one can tell! This is about as close to minifan efficiency as I think we will get without going to a huge can motor.

And yes there will be a 90mm version, 12 blade, coming by the end of the year, and I will be cutting it down for a new 80mm 12 blade fan

Just curious on how this compairs to the 70 mm wemos I got from you with the ARC 28-58-1 on the 5 cell 4200mh 35c and 60 amp controler, Will this motor batery combo work well on these fans and if so are they an easy bolt in replacement to the wemo setup. I can unbolt the wemos from the mounts and tubes.
