Status: offline 		yes steve this is your boat, i had a long day yesterday with my kids and there school, good stuff. ok back to the boat each part is the same and different at the same time, on small detailed parts its best to rip the mat up more so it does not have to make so many bends, thats the main difference. still used wooven strands on the deck for even more strength

Status: offline 		ok so once all the parts are layed up we put the deck back in the mold to hold everything straight, we tape off the deck and putty the deck and hull with a gelcoat aerosil mix to bond the deck and hull.

Status: offline 		once this has dried we remove the boat and glass the deck and hull together from the inside this build a near bullet proof boat, we instal transom and rails as needed, for 225.00 this 54" carbon fiber arapaho is a deal thats hard to beat, of course it also comes with a hatch thats not pictured

Status: offline 		we are doing all of our lay ups like this, what we have done now that we have closed our hobby shop is gone all in ,on boats, so with this being all we are doing now,we stopped our dealer program, took some of the margin we where giving to them and are now making a better boat at the same price, we hope this alone will keep up our boat sales, the 65" gtx in carbon fiber is 350.00, thats a great price for a awesome boat, as far as clear gel coat, its not really something we can do, we still use a fiberglass 1 1/2 oz mat and roll it out good, this insures there are no air bubbles trapped between the glass and gell, but when we put the carbon in you can not see thru it, so although we can get it down very good bye simply wetting it out well and working careful, there is no way to make sure all the air is out with just carbon fiber, and finding the airpockets and fixing them after the part is pulled, is a lot of work. what we are doing is building a great boat at a great price, and this lay up is rock solid,and you do get that great carbon fiber backdrop for your motor and bling parts,

Status: offline 		These hulls look nice.  You speak of just wetting out the carbon fiber and not being able to see air bubbles.  When I add carbon to my hulls I skip on polyester resin and use epoxy and vacume bag, this practically guarantees an air bubble free, rock solid lightweight hull since all the excess epoxy is removed.  Of course this method would cut in to your profit margin.  Keep up the good work!

Status: offline 		the epoxy resin does make a stronger part, but for model boats the polyester is near bullet proof, there is no comparison in the strength difference between carbon and no carbon, we got hear bye building a fiberglass thunderbolt for a s520 motor, this is the same hull that has had good feed back for years with a single in it no carbon just the old standard lay up. but the same lay up only lasted 6 weeks after some 80 mph crashes with the extra weight of the 10 hp twin, so when we went back to the building table we went the carbonfiber rout the boat is a year old and has done well until. until its flight up the bank and over the tree line,vacuum bagging does work well but my molds do not have the flanges needed for it, also we do not leave the carbon fiber wet we still extract the resin out only by hand instead, with the power of todays gas motors weight is not a issue, as we had to add 40 oz to the nose of our thunderbolt to keep in planted with the s520, and still manage 80+mph with a cat that also won the 1st ever impba twin engine outrigger class,and did it with a cat, pretty good stuff,yes epoxy is best , but for what we do model boats, and keeping great prices. our choice to keep the price down,we feel makes the most sense, if the polyester was giving us any problems we would adjust but as it is i just sold a 8 year old mti that was used for years to reggie fountain, and he was trilled as the boat was still in good shape. it was powered with a qd 35. the red boat was regular fiberglass, the next one was carbon and then there is the damage after a 80mph flight, and landing on the gravel road, survived pretty good considering thats speedmaster hardware on the back, thats as good as it gets and its just bent to crap

Status: offline 		here is our 62" carbon fiber mti,sorry about the dust the pics really show it in the built pic, it did not look that bad in person it will all blow out, anyways 12.22 lbs is a great weight for this big cat. still need to add wood
