3W 80 install with engine box inside the fuselage and custom stand-offs. We then had solid steel stand-offs made to add weight to an already needed part.

The box has spray foam around it behind the firewall. Dispersers vibration and adds much strength, with little weight. (we use it in the wings around the gear as well.

We use 2 guide pins to easily line up the cowl for the bolts. One bolt at the top, and two on the bottom.

I can't see right and down thrust in engine position? Are you made it?

How you fix cowl bolts when have so big dummy engine in front?

None. She is 0-0. And she flies great. None is shown on the plans.

Now I did ask Frank Tiano about this, when using the Moki 150 (he has one in a Meister), which we will be retrofitting Zombie with this winter. He suggested both right and down with that engine.

Hey Mirce
No right or down thrust needed.
Although a little right thrust would help.

Cowl bolts, which stay in the cowl, are reached threw the front with a long T handle Allen wrench. The guide pins (about 1.5") allow you to line the cowl up and get all the bolts started very easily.

The two bottom ones threw the opening below the cowl chin, and the top one threw a hole between the jugs in the center of the top. You can hardly notice the hole.

BTW, save the center of the fiberglass cowl. It makes a great gearbox for a dummy engine.

I totally forgot, I'm already stuck a plate that connects the middle of the first and second rib.

That should be fine now. I would still install a layer of heavy glass or carbon fiber around the firewall where it meets the fuse sheeting.

Yes Wayne I'll add carbon cloth inside later. I have one more idea how to connect first ans second rib, it's not complicated but will add strength.
In upper and lower fire wall and rib two area I will made holes and glue trough aluminum or carbon tube. That tube will connect ribs. In every tube on both side I will made aluminum parts which will be wider than tube, on one side, and other side will be same diameter like hole in tube. That parts will glue in tube hole, and wider side on rib. Tubes will connected ribs, and those "caps" will not allow ribs to made any moves.

Today I finally made elevator. OK it need fine sanding tomorrow, but I could not resist to put it on fuselage and check alignment with wing...

What to say, it lie perfect, and alignment is perfect too...

This kit impressed me more and more every day... It very easy to work, it's very stiff, model is light relative to the size...
Next model will be 100% from Meister Scale again (OK, but need to finish P 38 and Stuka first)...

Regards

Mirce

Hey Dino. Mirce just made me think of something. How wonderful a Meister P-38 would be. The same wing concept of the high-lift flat bottom airfoil, on a giant scale P-38. 125" would be about 1/5 scale. Think how easy it would be to fly. The gear is easy as well, not having to rotate. Fiberglass booms and crew pod would make construction easy and fun. A couple inexpensive DLE 55s would fly it. Or even a couple Hacker 80s.

Just dreaming a little.

I also like this idea! My dad eventually wants a P-38! Not sure how you could go wrong with the name Meister on it!

Huston, we may have a problem.

Guess Prince Aircraft is on it's own on this one.

Hey Dave,
Not as popular as a B-25. Have to look at it from a sales stand point. I would love to do many designs but they have to sell....

THE P-38 WOULD SELL!!!!!!!

Fighters are more popular than bombers. No offense to the bomber crowd.

IMO, for a bomber to be realistic, it has to have even lighter wing loading than a fighter, so it can fly realistically slow. The biggest beef I have with the model bombers is that they fly way to fast. Maybe a foam fuselage would help.

Fighter - bomber... P 38, B 25, A 26... Let's go back to P 47...

Today I sand thin layer of filler on elevator. Shame I can't display how smooth surface is...

I start working on elevators moving parts, and get idea how to use my parts from big flaps hinges for horns. Now I'm sorry why I was not made all horns (on ailerons and flaps) like this...
First rib near fuselage was changed from 3 mm balsa to 5 mm wide ply. Ball link is 5 mm wide.

Than I prepare parts for horn, and glue it on both rib side...

Those parts was glued with 12 minutes epoxy glue. Finally horn look like this,,,

After that I add few more little balsa parts here and ther inside of elevator, and upper balsa plate was glued with white glue...

Tomorrow we continue...

Regards

Mirce

Hey Mirce,
You were asking about gear doors on the other build. Here is how I made mine. I also used the same thing on two others. Not scale but works great.

Looks good Mirce. Sorry for getting sidetracked. When you mentioned the P-38, it got my brain going. I like it more than the P-51.
