One of my friend has decided to try NGH 35 CC gas engine and last week I have it to deliver to him.
It has a spare piston inside box to convert engine optional from side exhaust( GT 35 S) to rear exhaust(GT 35R).Also it has beam type mount lugs
which friend always complains from stand off type mounting of other engines he has.(Though NGH has stand off struts in box).
On bench first we adjust spark plug gap accordingly then prime it from the carb slightly and voila, very easy start which I saw very rarely on other brands.
He got quite happy with the engine after he saw it runs great.

Here are first runs of engine on bench.

Some very gooo ideas there, interesting muffler, and side lugs...Should be copied by other companies...
You could also make a custom crankcase rear mount plate with the ignition inside it...Betcha Xu Liang could make a custom ignition to fit it....

Dont do it. If you move the ignition there, it will increase the effective nose weight of the airplane

Already there is a rear mount plate and struts inside box ,but I suggest to put a beam type mount inside box.

If 3 more ounces from ignition inside the mount is a problem you could put the battery behind the CG....
The Super Tigre 30s an OS BGX engines have beam mounts and optional rear mounts with enough space inside to put the ignition... I put a Modelectric spark coil and ignition inside a ST mount about 20 years ago, I think it's still around and running....

Well Im building a CMP 74in P40 and a CMP BF109 that both need a rail mount motor. While looking at a lot of diffrent options I dedcied to this was the best option in the $300 price range.

While I really Love my 3 DLE 30's, and 2 DLE 55, BME, and Q75.

As One guy (Tired Old Man) told me if I want to know about a new motor, then I should get one and let otheres know.  SO here it gose.

My first impreshion is this motor seems a little heavy for its cc but its rail mountable wich is what I need.

1. The packageing was really nice, everything is included, even tools, sparkpluge etc.

2. I love the fact you can convert this motor to a rear muff set up, even thow the directions, wich are very nice for a new bee, don't tell you how to do the convershion.

3. I love the fact this motor come with 2 sets of gaskets so you got some spairs.

4. I love the fact its a single 10mm bolt set up, (tired of the 4 bolts on DLEs)

So my issues thus far,

While converting to rear muff set up, There where no directions, but I figured out wich way the pistion gose by looking at the parts exploded view.

If you look at the first pic, you can see what was couseing me the only issues. The bottom Left carb screw was hitting the head, and was not letting me aline everything up so I could bolt the head back on. So I first tighten them all down wich was a good thing becouse they were a lose. I sloved the issue by takeing the screw off, and there was a small lock washer that just needs removed.

Now my secound issue or question. The manual says you need to use 20:1 for break in and to run with 25:1

I use 32:1 on all my othere motors and I was hopeing not to need to bring 2 types of fuel to the flying feild.

Sir.

I think you bought a GT35 which is with side-exhaust, the converting is easy, please try to do carefully.
1. research the GT35 with the manual and explorded views.
2. disassemble your GT35, remember the situations of some parts which need to change.
3. take the Ring installed on the extra Rear-pinston, and inside the cyliner-liner
4. rotate the cylinder-head and cylinder-liner with 90 degrees.
5. reassemble it. it is GT35R with rear-exhaust.
6. please do it carfully and think it with all parts are correct situations.

NGH gas engine is with classical glow engine style, each size is with sleeve inside for long time works, so All NGH gas engine is any more heavy than others which many by plated-head gas engine.
Flyers will use NGH gas engine well if he has experience with glow engine ever.

You can use same rate for fuel and oil mixture with 30:1 or 35:1. no problem.

I suggest you fly your GT35 first and later you can try to convert it to GT35R.

thank you sir.

michael
