    Status: online     		MVVS is very proud of their inner engine gas transfer flow, enabling the smooth power output. A fringe benefit is low fuel consumption wich is the twin brother of a well tuned design. Not only the gas engine, the glow version is a winner as well.
    To check this issue statement:
    compare OS BGX with the new 1.60 FX , and you know why it took OS so long to get a well behaved glow engine of large capacity. These engines have a huge difference in specific fuel consumption (amount of fuel per BHP/h), and with the FX they finally hit the target.
    The superb ST 2300 is another fine example of much improved design when compared with the previous Big Tigres series. This concerns the engine, and not the crappy carb, which had all the marks of ignorance of mixture control.

    Status: offline     		The weather has been just beautiful this long weekend so far, my two mvvs 1.6's have been behaving great.

    The older 1.6 with the round ignition has been turning a Zinger Pro 17x8 at 7700, it is in a 1/4 scale 72"ws Lanier Laser 200 at 11.6 pounds less fuel. This combo almost has unlimited vertical and if I had the red head in this plane I feel the verical would be 99% close to unlimited.

    Mean while my red head soldiers on in the Sig Cap 232, breaking in nicely. Today I switched to synthetic oil (Amsoil 50:1) after running on Pennzoil 40:1. Today's prop rpms is, Menz S 17x8, 8200 rpm.

    I'm using a Bisson muffler on the red head and the stock muffler ( modified with two down pipes) on the Laser)

    I've burned about 4 gallons of fuel so far through each engine and they have performed very well.

    A buddy just ordered a mvvs 1.6 to put in a new Sig Cap 232, his airframe will be a couple of pounds lighter than mine, I'm anxiuos to see how if flies.

    1)Is there a graph available somewhere showing the torque peak of that MVVS1.6 fonction to RPM or torque (Y axe) to RPM (X axe) without tune pipe?

    2)Or what are the best prop and RPM to develop maximum thrust with the Bisson Pitt muffler?

    Status: online     		There is as far as I know of, no power graph for the 1.60
    The power max. is specified at 9000 rpm, so propping between 7500 and 8000 should give best flight results.
    As a reasonable rule of thumb, best torque is at 70% in two strokes, so it would be between 6000 and 6500 rpm. This is in line with many reports using props from 16x6 up to 20x8.
    In prop selection, much depends on plane performance window and drag, so experimentation is the key word, if you want to get the best out of your engine.
    IMAC pilots would probably prefer a 16x12/14 whilst glider tow would be better off using a 18x8/10 or even a 20x6/8

    Status: offline     		I bought an mvvs 1.60 redhead about 2 months ago and, I put it on a breakin stand. I put an 18x6 pro zinger on it and started it. During the 3-4 minutes that we ran it the highest rpm we got was 7750 rpm with the inverted bisson pitts muffler. I think once it is broke in and I go to 50:1 amsoil it will really be powerfull I am hoping 8500 rpm on a pro zinger. I put the engine on a DA Funtana and hope to fly it soon.

    I will be interested to see how much more you get after a couple of gallons. It should be run in by then.

    Status: offline     		I tried a 18x6 standard zinger on my red head las Saturday, tached at 7800.
    It flew the cap 232 but airspeed was too slow, I need more pitch than a 6, sure slowed down for landing though.

    Status: online     		props that performed well are 16x12, 18x8 and 18x10
    6" pitch is good for small glow engines, not gassers.
    We tried the engine in a hover application. Here too, the 8" pitch proved better.

    Status: offline     		It depends on what you like to do when you fly, I like the 6" pitch because I hate to fly really fast and I like to do 3d. I guess everyone has their own preferences. I have a bunch of different props that I will try the first few times out. It also will be on a DA Funtana which doesnt need to fly fast and is almost impossible to stall since it weighs less than 11 pounds ready to fly.

    Status: offline     		For aerobatics it depends on the rpm. A 18X6 between 8500 and 9500 rpm is good, a 18X8 between 7200-8200 good. 10" pitch good 6000-7000, 12" pitch below 6000 rpm, etc.

    OS 160FX APC 18X6W 9200 RPM. Good speed, good vertical. Excellent unlimited in a 13 lb. plane, would pull out of hover well. Good in a 14 lb. plane, barely pull out of hover.

    OS160FX APC 18X8W 8200 RPM. More Speed, not so much vertical.

    All with Jtec dual Snuffler and Hobbico exhaust extensions, very quiet and clean.

    Status: offline     		I have an older MVVS 1.6 with the round black ignition. It has been sitting in a box over the winter and I just got around to putting it in a plane.

    I can not get the engine to fire even with a starter.

    I know that I am getting power to the ignition module and gas to the carb.

    What is the best way to test to see if the ignition module is firing?

    Is there a standard way of testing it?
