Blush:[:)] I too don't have the new engines in stock (MVVS says: soon), though I still do have a few of the early 2003 production. Mechanically, they are equivalent.

Do you have any of the tuned pipes for the 1.60? I already have the curved pipe that fits o the engine, I just need the tuned pipe and the coupler. If so, how much including shipping to Texas, zip code 77535?

I flew a couple more props on my red head and the Sig Cap 232. Top FLite power point 18x8 tached at 7200 rpm, flew the plane well, nice pull on the up lines, engine seemed to be lugging a bit, may cut this prop down to a 17.5x8 Also tried the Top Flite pp 18x6-10, tached at 6600 rpm, plane flew a bit sluggish and engine was lugging, to much prop IMHO. cheers - ken k.

Several posts were skipped over when the website changed over. Here's one of mine which I just copied from the old website: I recently took my MVVS 1.60 off the tuned muffler and installed a KS cannister type smoke muffler. I am currently running an APC 18x8W (wide blade)prop and getting RPM measurements of 7650. I have an 18x8N that I haven't tried yet.

The 35cc engine you are referring to is MUCH heavier and larger than the 1.60 we are talking about.

A 26cc Zenoah with ighition conversion weighs 2 1/2 lbs with ignition, without muffler... Fair comparison ? Mejzlik 18-6 8800 rpm with an Abell Muffler....$380.00 from BH Hanson in Las Vegas....

My humblest apologies... I was just sharing some info I just found out about something new I saw... It is comparable to the MVVS 2.1 and is (after you add a muffler to the 1.6) about 16 oz. heavier... that is alot... FWIW, the same manufacturer has a 25cc coming soon... but I won't bother you with the details as it's not relevant to your discussion. Take care.

An OS 160FX spins a Mejzlik 18X6 at over 10,000 rpm. with a bisson ST 4500 muffler. What will the Z 26 running on gas spin an APC 18X6?

The G23's / G26's are great engines like the 1.6 and each engine has it pro's and cons, and I have flown each, the mvvs has certain features that I like, such as the slimer width with the front mounted carb, lightweight out of the box with no modifications.

I agree with preivers, the mvvs definitely has it's advantages. especially when compared to conventional glow plug design, it works very well with most planes in this size category. I think the mvvs has the Zenoah beat for overall performance, ie. weight and HP though. I have also heard great things about it's reliability, which is why I really would like to try and fit it into my new Citabria Pro I just bought. It's on it's way in the mail right now. Can't wait for my winter project. A big red plane, with a big red head engine. WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!![:D]

They may arrive before that. I expect a few when my next shipment rolls in around mid November. [8D] mmm... I just found out, that the new forum lay-out does not support Alt-code ascii. Thus my name with e-accent (alt130) appears partly blocked. Also all RCU posts before the switch-over are lost. It feels great to be a junior again[:)]

My flying buddy Tex flew his Bridi 2+2 pattern ship this past Sunday with a new MVVS 1.6 and the tuned pipe, the Bolly 16x10 tached at 8200 out of the box, sadly the right wing failed in flight. The 2+2 would have a take off run of 40' then pull to vertical and keep going. Tonight I moved over my red head 1.6 to my Laser 200, I took the Laser out to the back yard to test run it to see if I had everything right, a bit cool out, only +9C, choked the engine and it fired on the first flip, I can't say how pleased I am with the 1.6's, they have run like tops all summer. ps: I liked the old RC Universe better, I find this new site slow and clumsy. There seems to be a lot of info here on the 1.60 engines. Could someone tell me how to mount the ignition module and where? Is it ok to mount it on front of firewall between motor mounts or does it need to be inside firewall? Need to be wrapped in foam? First ignition engine and I don't know squat.

I usually mount the ignition module and the ignition battery on the front or the rear of the firewall in 1/2" thick latex foam, I use hooks screwed into the wood and rubber bands around the module and battery and hooked on the hooks. Keep your ignition stuff 6" away from your r/c components. --ken

NO, I do not have an apc 18" in the shop, closest I had was the 17x8 at 8200 or something like that. cheers - ken
