    Charley,
My daughter and her family live north of Houston in The Woodlands; and I'll be flying in (not too keen on driving that far anymore). Won't be there long enough to schedule a trip out your way, but maybe next time. My daughter and her family love San Antonio and go there often. Maybe I'll hitch a ride along with them sometime.
Well, the temp right now is 2 friggin' degrees! But, it's supposed to climb all the way up to 12 degrees by this afternoon.
Back to these little wonder engines---they're great and the support from Pe is super. It carries over into the MVVS46 and 116 as well. We have some folks here flying them and they are carrying on the great tradition of this fine engine maker. Kudos!

    Juergen,

You probably have the mac's header too long, so your high end rpm are slightly disappointing ( ~200 rpm loss)
Shorten 3/4" at a time, and see what happens. The Mejzlik 18x6 should be well over 9000.

If I wanted to convert the carb on the MVVS 26cc to have the spring catched choke valve like the one on the DA-50's ( where there is a springloaded ball and an indent on the carb tube that holds the choke plate) what parts would I need to order from the local small engine shop? I'm wanting to be able to flip the choke on and it hold on and then turn the choke off and it stay off. Currently, the MVVS carb doesn't have enough friction to hold it either way. The DA uses a spring / ball setup that holds it very securely. The carb is setup to have the parts in place but the shaft isn't there and the ball / spring combo isn't in place either. Hope that makes sense...

Get the shaft, ball and spring from a scrap carb or ask your nearby garden supplier for the parts. Most walbros are drilled to accept the parts.

I don't have a scrap carb laying around so I'll take both motors by the garden center (small engine shop) so they'll see what I'm talking about. Thanks again.

A lot of pages ago I wrote down all the parts and partnumbers you need. Please do a search in this threat. I drilled the the shaft myself, you only need the spring and the ball. Works like a charme.
    Anger on:
So much for "The engine is designed from the ground up as a model aircraft engine..." and we have a carb we only can use the right way after DIY modification and without the proper throttlearm. Nobody come up now and tell me "but the engine is, the carb might not - you can make the throttlearm the way you like and need". Yes I can and a lot more, but we purchase a system and everybody would screem if they would have to design their own throttlearm for an OS.
    Anger off:
    It had to be said.

Thanks Chuck, I'll have to research this thread for the parts. Plan on trying to go by sometime tomorrow to pick it all up. I do agree, what good is a gas motor made for RC when you still have to screw with setting up a throttle. However, RCShowcase has some neat little throttle arms that make the job automatic so as long as they still produce them, I'm happy.

Here is how I did the Choke with original Walbro parts to lock in open and closed position:

Realizing that in the carb body is the resessment for a spring and ball already casted, I looked for the parts at Walbro.com.
There are no parts for our WT-481-1 to go in there, BUT!
On the carb body it says also 446 which means it's the body of a WT-446-1 and under this carburetor you can find:

    28, Ball - Choke Friction, part# 89-13-8, Ball - steel .125 DIA., $0.36 (you get 10)
    42, Spring - Choke Friction, part# 98-162-7, Spring - choke friction, $0.43 (you get 5)
15, Shaft Assembly - Choke, part# 44-3111-1, Shaft - choke, $1.90 (That one is still on the way)

Until the new shaft comes in, I drilled the original shaft to give the ball some bedding to hold in open and closed position - it works even with the spring.

    Chuck

    Ok Chuck,

I found the 28, Ball - Choke Friction
I found the 42, Spring - Choke Friction
I even found the 15, Shaft Assembly - however it's listed as "no longer available"

Now what do I do? I guess I could drill the original shaft to hold it but I figure it would be difficult to get it correctly open and closed in the optimum position. Is there another carb where we can get the replacement shaft from? Would the carb shaft from the DA work? I guess I could cannabalize my DA and order the replacement parts from it?

    Yep,
I never got the shaft. My DIY version works up to day without a problem. I don't know about the DA shaft.
    How to drill it:
Mark the Chokeshaft from above the resessment (spring/ball hole) for the closed and open position, dissemble the Chokeflap, pullout the Chokeshaft, drill with a 1mm drillbit at your markings through the shaft straight and centered! or mark the shaft on the otherside of your markings again and drill from there (this way drilling through the shaft is not required and that is what I did), insert the spring and ball into the carbbody, hold it down with a small screwdriver and insert the shaft again, turning the shaft - at the drilled closed and open position a slight resistance can be felt, pullout the shaft again (whatchout for flying ball and spring - use the screwdriver!!!!), oben up the holes with a dremel to make a nice bed for the ball, if you are slightly off at the test (marking/drilling error) open up with a dremel in the right direction offcenter the drilled hole, put everything back together and enjoy. Takes ten minutes.
    Chuck

I pulled the shaft out of the DA last night, fit perfect in the MVVS carb. I'll get a replacement shaft for the DA with new ball and spring or I might just leave the MVVS choke in there since I will likely run it from a servo since the extra weight of a choke servo won't kill me as bad in a 50cc size plane.

    One small note:

What thread is the prop nut on the mvvs, as I'm looking to fit a Dave Brown spinner, I need the right tube nut.
