After almost pulling the trigger on the Avonds, I'm leaning very heavily towards the Skymaster 1/6th. I like that I can deal with BVM, they provide upgraded parts and a manual, provide a buffer between me and Taiwan for support etc. Its already painted also, which is something I'm not setup to do myself and I don't want to get into a situation where I'm waiting months for my buddy to paint it because he's too [insert excuse]. I'm a lot more comfortable putting ~$10-12k in the air than ~$20-25k that would be required by the scale-jets. Not to mention that fact that its huge, I'm not sure I could get it into my wifes Honda Pilot, and definitely not my BMW 335 coupe! Forget about trailers...

Get the one from Banana Hobbies. It'll fit in the 335. LOL

Thats funny, I bought my chevy Equinox just for my 100cc Yak and my FEJ 1/6 F-16 fits in it just fine with the rudder off.

Interesting that you should mention a Honda Pilot. I transport my Skymaster F-16 in my wife's Honda Pilot, and it fits perfectly. With the vertical stab removed, it sits on its landing gear with the back seats folded down, and there's about a foot of clearance between the nose and the windshield. In fact, before we bought the Pilot, we made sure it would fit a 1/6-scale F-16.

I've done a lot of research over the past few months, but it's not clear to me who makes the best Falcon, or at least which one(s) to stay away from. This is regardless of size. Specify which size you are talking about in the case of a manufacturer that has multiple sizes. Your thoughts and opinions? (Preferably based on experiences.)

Here are the ones I'm aware of:

1. Skymaster
2. Yellow Aircraft
3. Global Jet Club (Jet Legend?)
4. Jet Legend
5. Fei Bao
6. Tamjets
7. Avonds
8. Scale Jets

Lockheed Martin makes the best ..!!!! hehehehe
I believe Skymaster and Fly Eagle Jet...

The best by far- apart from thre landing!

I bought an early FEJ F-16 as my first jet, it flew on a Wren 54, took ages to get off the ground and came in like a bullet when landing. I sold it have flown BVM Bobcat and Bandit ever since. Ive clocked up 300 flights and touch wood everyones come home with me in one piece. Iv'e now seen a FBJ F-16 for sale S/Hand and I'm really tempted as its not much money and I was going to put a Wren 160 in it. I reckon I could get the whole lot flying for around £3000 ($4800). Is the build quality of the FBJ that far behind the Skymaster P Avonds kits?
By the way as people say jets aren't difficult to fly, forget buddy boxes you can either fly it or you can't and if you need a buddy box you can't! Listen to what experinced fliers tell you, they are totally different to fly than prop aircraft and entirley different to land, entirely different. Oh and forget learning on Boomerangs the only thing they will teach you is how to handle a turbine throttle wise, there is no comparison between a sport jet and boomerang. Just my 2 penneth!

Dude, I can lift a FEJ off the ground in about 250' on a VT90. It flies great and lands slow like any other F-16.
My guess is yours was either heavy or nose heavy.

This was a 450' runway, and I landed a bit hot as this was my first flight at this field.

No guessing, fact was it was my first flight and as you will know everyone thinks jets will fall out of the sky if you slow them down too much, beginners nerves. Too heavy with a wren 54!

Hi friends:

The best F-16 at the moment is from Scale Jets, is 1/5 scale model, until Peter Coers finish his project.

Still hasn't answered my question re Fei Bao F-16, anyone got one that can give me some input. I know the Scale Jets is the best but I'm not buying one just at present.

i looked at a second hand one in the minuet man colors last week and the quaility was good with all the missiles on it looked fantasic and is is the only one that seems to fly ok with them fitted as well but a new one is £2700 in the uk that is a bit to much for me and as i have other jet legend jets i went for thier f16 which seems to be ok as well and it was £1000 cheaper

Hey guys,
Just came across this thread again. I'm thinking of an f16 this year. 1/6 or bigger disregarding the scale jets cause of $$$.
For the f16 experts out there which model has
1. The most realistic scale outline
2. The most surface detail
3. The most scale landing gear

A mate has SM and looks pretty accurate. I've seen a JL one that looks like it sat really well on the ground and had great landing gear but lacking surface detail.
I like the size of the 1/5.5 FEJ but the gear looks to small. Confused.
I'm not interested in sport scale.
Thanks in advance.

Levi

Levi, the Skymaster "generation 2" F-16 is my favorite in the 1/6 size. It has a lot of surface detail and the gear are the best I've seen from the Asian manufacturers. I have a gen 1 and it's awesome. I've seen the newer FEJ 1/5 and 1/4 F-16 up close and they look great too if you want a larger F-16.
