Just bought a Torment the other day, and so far it's a BLAST! It's my first "real" RC car, so i'm trying to learn all I can.  I am kinda disappointed that I didn't pay more attention to the truck not being waterproof...Is there an "easy" way for an inexperienced person to waterproof this truck so that I can use it in the snow/rain?

Yes there is, start by wrapping the ESC with a balloonand zip tie the opening shut, then I just leave the servo as is but run a bead of hot glue or rubber cement around the seams. No RC should be submerged in water but this method above will get you through moderate snow and mud.

I'll be receiving a Torment  in a few days. Does anyone have a suggestion for running on carpet?

Shock oil is a must, i went with 40wt. Also, tear appart the diff and grease it up with thicker Mono-lithium grease, makes a world of difference in the handling of the rear.

I just bought a Torment about a week and a half ago and i freaking love it. its my first non-walmart rc truck.
I UPGRADED to a Hobbywing EZRUN 60A esc and 5.5t (6000Kv) brushless system and a 5000mah 3s lipo,
changed the pinion gear to a 24 tooth and, changed shock fluid to a 70 wt. (do not do this the plastic threads
cannot handle the hydrolic force and pop out 50 or 60 max)
I cannot keep the front wheels down to save my life I need to buy myself a wheelie bar.
I will post a video with a radar gun when I get it to stop back flipping. But I feel confident that this the fastest
torment on the planet.

Any takers?

I had the same problem with my HPI Blitz when i dropped a brushless system in mine. I put a Castle Sidewinder in it.
I kept popping wheelies and flipping backwards but fast as hell.

You may need to adjust your slipper clutch. Thats what I did.

I just got one of these and it's bada$$!  I did the water break in on the stock motor and ran a 5000Mah battery and this thing hauled!  It also went for a long time on the bigger battery.  The controller is nice and i like itt for my first 2.4 GHz controller.  I need to look at some road tires b/c I live across from a parking deck that's empty on the weekends.  I want to get some adjustable turnbuckles and metal drive shafts.  I spoke with Horizon today and they said the metal transmission gears were on back order but they should be in by the end of this month (he said they had 3000 coming in).  For the price this an awesome truck.  I turned down a used sc10 for 150.00 and bought this instead and I couldn't be happier.  Will upgrade to BL system in the future for sure!

I have had mine since february, hard to find a good forum on it....  I started out with the stock 20t motor, then went down to an orion 15DT and that really woke up the torment. Torque tons of Torque. then i didn't realize how needy brushed motors were and it got caked up with dirt from racing and died, so then i had a buddy who had a brushless motor in need of repair, a traxxas velineon out of a slash, i was able to use the rebuild kit and and i was ready to go. dropped it in and WOW i have a mean track machine. i also upgraded to the metal transmission gears. i knew the plastic ones wouldn't stand a chance. that being one of the biggest upgrades. the other i have tried different tires at my local track. i have been real happy with gladiators front and rear, sub cultures for fronts, and goosebumps for rear. my current set up is badlands out back and subcultures up front.  it eats the track up. Funny i have had my truck since February and have not even looked to see if i have shock oil in my shocks. ha ha ha. but today i did notice it not rebounding like it should so i may drop some 50wt in this evening.  but i also added the RPM light bar on top. it looks Mean and helps me get a little longer run times at night since i can still see.  and what a beating this truck can take. i babied it at first then the new wore off, then the brushless came and then the cartwheels, flips, and crashing. ha ha ha.  i wish my little e-revo was this durable, so really in the months of driving all has been spent on upgrades. not a single breakage and boy have i driven the wheels off this guy. and saying that with the right driver this little 160 buck sct is a wolf in sheeps clothing.   !!

Can you post some pics of your Torment?  Where did you get the metal transmission upgrade?  Everyone seems to be sold out!

Here is my Torment with 2.2 sized Badlands, i now have the 1.9 sized Badlands which work alot better.  and this is before i added the roof lights, i will get a pic of those soon. The 2.2 did work very well for Trail riding though.

as for the metal gears i picked up a set for the Circuit at my LHS.  they dropped right in and good to go. i did add 30,000 wt oil to the diff to get more of a posi traction feel. it worked but too well, its turning radius was hindered, so i do plan on trying to get most of that oil out and just going to go back with a  lithium grease instead.

Anyone looking for the metal gears?  If so, I just found them on eBay.  Search for ECX9001.  Just ordered mine!
