Ok guys,
Didn't get any help on the general page so I thought I would try here...
I just picked up a used Extreme Flight Extra 300. I started looking up the hardware and am getting confused. The motors and servos that I am finding have different ratings associated with them and the brands seem to use different ratings. Can someone please recommend a hardware setup that will allow me to practice my 3D flying and not kill my wallet? I have been looking on Hobbyking and Hobbypartz.com It doesn't have to be these sites, but you get an idea of my price from there.

Thank you,
Guy

The gens ace 3744 motor/combo kit is good. I had one on the 48"MXS and it worked great until the I broke the prop adapter. The motor is a direct fit, no mods needed. motor/ esc combo is $65 from hobbypartz. Downside is that replacement parts are not available anywhere. Now I have an Omega 130 from 3DHS. IMHO the Omega is a much better motor and replacment parts are available.

I believe I have an omega motor as well on my 3dHS Extra 300 SHP, with airboss esc. They've been good to me so far, but I've only been running them on 3S. As for servos, I use HS-65MG servos, but they're a bit pricey at $30 per servo. I haven't had one fail yet, so there hasn't been any buyer's remorse.

If they were in stock, I would probably suggest looking at the tacon motors. They seem to be pretty beefy motors, and not terribly priced.

The airframe is designed around the Torque 2814/820 motor and an Airboss 45A Esc..
we use 4S setups of anywhere from about 2200 to 2700mAh packs
