I am looking to buy a new helicopter to fly indoors,
as i recently moved to RI.

Could you please help me;

Also, what's the difference between a 3ch. and 4ch. heli ;

I knew I had typed this somewhere...... Took me a bit of searching tho. Copied from here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10043135/tm.htm

Here is a logical approach to the "evolution" of RC helicopters:

1 channel: throttle
2 channels: Throttle, rudder
3 channels: Throttle, rudder, elevator (first ability to hover)
4 channels: Throttle, rudder, elevator, aileron
5 channels: Throttle, rudder, elevator, aileron, collective pitch
5+ channels: Throttle, rudder, elevator, aileron, pitch, gadgets (gyro, governor, ect.)

The range you gave means that you would like to pick up a toy flying indoor?

Try to find Metal Micro Helicopter Gyro Indoor. I think you can buy that with your price range.

I just picked up a HeliMax Axe CX Nano from Tower. Haven't received it yet but every review I read says they're excellent little things. They're still on sale for 49.99, normally 99.99, but I've no idea how long they'll stay that way. Worth checking out.

The F103 you pictured above was like the ones I bought as gifts for my young nephews; however, it was branded as ZSeries.  One flew well, the other was returned (through Amazon) for being defective.  It is an inexpensive (under $50) 4 channel.  The avatar style rotors give it the lateral movement (banking) that come with a 4 channel heli.

The one you purchased via eBay, even though you state isn't a Syma knock off (I agree with you), looks to be very similar to the Syma s107 (the flybar looks different), which is a nice little 3 channel heli.  I would recommend the s107 to anyone for a 3 channel helicopter.

If you are staying in the $15 to $35, then you are really looking at a 3 channel toy heli (like the Syma s107).  Don't be offended by the word toy.  They are fun to play with, but when limited to 3 channels, you are really only geting something fun to play with, inexpensive and easy to fly.  You will learn a little, but navigation skill development will be very limited.  Also, toy helicopters have limited parts available (other than what is included with the helicopter), which in my opinion is a huge downside.  Hobby quality helicopters usually have an abundance of spare parts available online and at your local hobby shop.

If you bump your budget a little, it would probably be better to go with a hobby quality 4 channel.  You can potentially learn some habits that are difficult to break with a 3 channel when you eventually move on to a 4 channel version.  And personally, I think 4 channel is as easy to fly, if not easier.

Have fun with the new heli that you have coming your way.  Let us know how you like it.
