Default chutes and rc jets "how to"

This years Greek national rc airshow i instaled twin shutes to stop my hotspot.

I use one channel on a three position switch. All closed/shutes out/shutes release.

This is done with the help of a PowerBox Royal where in the maching exits i could change deferent end points of each switch position.

IMHO its very importand you can release the shute since if it opens during flight it ...you will stall and crash?

...you can also make some test runs(with out wings on the model) in a big parking space as i did ...just to see how afective shute are or how well your release system works.

The release system..

If you use a servo arm cut in a way to look like a hook system (photo1)to let go the shute wire loop ..make sure it will be metal and make sure
you use a wire cable to conect servo with the wing tube or engine mound to transfer the shock from the shutes spesialy when they open.

I just make a loop with wire cable around the pivot of the metal arm (photo 2 ) and on the other end to wing rube to take the load of the servo.

And use this(photo3) to keep the wire always strech and take the load from servo .

With the easy "reloading" in mind here is another release system i work right now on a SkyMaster 1/6 F-16.

A servo pulls a flex link/wire with a pin at the end to release the loop of the chute wire..

..holes are reenforced to take the load

..note the cross over suport of the pin tube that will help the pin to fight back torque when pin will suport only in one hole in case of release ,until pin go all the way in the pin tube.

p.s. sorry for my bad english

Another idea I've seen that I intend to use on my F4 is to use a piece of fishing line in there with ~35# test so if it accidentally deploys in flight it simply breaks the fish line and the chute falls to the ground without causing the plane any trouble

I program the cable release to be not engaged during the flight, that way if the chute does get out it is not attached to the model and simply falls away, rather than have to wait for you to realise it and fumble for the release switch. The cable release servo only engages the cable at the time I operate the switch to open the chute.

George,

Very nice setups you have for the chute. But unfortunatelly, i am unable to figure out your release system, appreciate if you can explain a bit more following points:
A) Are you able to release chute after deployment on the ground after coming to a near stop?
B) are chute lines hooked to the release servo or the airframe?
C) Presume if this is a Details 4 scale system, ejection of chute is done with an air cylinder, appreciate if you have some photos of installation.

Thanks for your time,

Regards,
Dany

Thank you guys!

Dany its not your fault but my poor english.Ill try to make it clear.
The first photos are from the setup i have on my hotspor jet .The last photos are from the F16 setup....

A)yes im able to release the chute at any time..I use one chanel on a three position switch: position 0 all closed/ position 1 chutes out(servo push switch air valve) position 2 chutes release (seperate servo hook fanction)
This two servos have deferent end points and i programed them on only one chanell with the powerbox Royal

B) all chute lines end up to a wire line first as you can see on my hotspot side view. This line must be hooked to a release system. Now if you drive your car with 60mph and you open a bag out of the window you will know why you should transfer the shock load/pull from the release system where the chute line is attached to a more main part of the plane..

C) D4S F16 chute system is very easy ...just screw the sylinder in the chute case and it will just push it out. http://www.details4scale.com/SMF16ch...structions.htm
i havent finish it yet because i want to make the rear chute cover so it wont be pulled out from the air...maybe with small magnets will let you know

George,

Thanks for your reply.
A and C points are ok. Still need sheding some lights on the actual release system (B) (position of the 2 servos and how exactly does the cable go from fixed point on the airframe all the way to the chute). I am missing the point of second servo (the one having cable around the pivot of metal servo horn), what does it do exactly besides acting as pivot point (i.e. if its arm moves nothing should happen as arm is not attached to a pushrod or anything else (your photo 2).

Sorry to bother you but i am trying to understand your method for this installation.

Thanks,
Regards,
Dany

Hello Dany sorry now i see the mistake:

the loop of the wire that holds the chutes goes in the slot of the metal hook/arm.First photo.

In the next photo i just got a free servo to take the photo.Just to show how i transfer the load somewhere on the airframe with the help of another wire cable.

The second servo is not from the release system.I just could not take a good photo of the original wire holds pivot of the servo with the metal hook..

..sorry about that[&o]
