I knew a guy from another board that put a Mach 427 in a Jato. He had to do the single speed conversion because it would not stay on the ground in 1st gear. Though he never had any transmission problems, I assume he geared it a lot higher. With a big block, you have to set it up for speed meaning BIG clutchbell and tiny spur gear. This is supposed to help with tearing the transmission up, but there's no guarantee.

If I were to convert my Jato to a big block, I would use a .21 only, and NOT an OS.

Hmmm. Looks good. Novarossi engines are awesome but the Jato comes originally with a 3.3. If that is really a 2.5 then it's a small block. No worries though because I have seen some small blocks really scream. I will be headed to FIU north campus tomorrow to run with a few guys. If your interested PM me.

It's based off the extremely common CX platform. From what I have heard, it's a slight upgrade over the 3.3. The 3.3 is already a powerhouse though, so you wont see any extreme differences. Displacement does not always mean more power.

the 3.3 is a .18 and the novarossi that i got is 2.5 supercharged .15  its just like proanti1 says it faster but not really by much i just wanted to upgrade to a better motor which is all i did and now i took the 3.3 that i had and shoved it into my nitro sport which i made a thread on that you guys can check out

A 3.0cc engine is an .18, 3.3cc is a .20 rounded up. I measured one of my 3.3's and did the math... .1996ci from my calculations. It's got higher effective compression than I expected too.

the jammin .21 is all you need, SO much power, more than many .28 motors.

my OLD T-Maxx is running a trinity Picco R .15 that i ported. it REALLY moves out for a .15, dont underestimate small blocks. ANYTHING is a improvement over a 3.3

I disagree. The way the 3.3 is timed, a good pipe will really make it come alive. I think the biggest downfall of the 3.3 is the carburetor. I dont see the 3.3 running at 100% power with the carburetor they put on it, which is the same carb they use on the 2.5/2.5R engines. I think overall the 3.3 is a very stout engine, though in stock trim leaves a little to be desired.

Fuel has a lot to do with it too. I've been running all of my car engines on 20%nitro/12% castor fuel and noticed a good improvement in throttle response, and top end rpm when I switched to this fuel. The castor/synthetic blend stuff I had been using ran pretty well, but my castor fuel far and away blows it out of the water.

traxxas doesnt make a "great" engine period, the reason why the carb on the 3.3 is restrictive is because they are underbuilt, they produce too much power for its construction.

i rest my case.

Anything? Ha. The 3.3 is a pretty good motor, it out performs a lot of aftermarket small blocks. Apparently, it makes a fantastic drag motor when modded.

We run by FIU north campus. I heard of another place in Doral where the guys from my lhs run but I have no idea how to find the place.
