Status: offline 		Well this is what's been keeping me out of the shed lately.

As I finally got hold of a bigger shed I could pull down this eyesore that's been bugging me for years and get stuck in to creating a nice little seating area.








Once the shed was gone I called on some hydraulic help to remove the base, which was mostly bricks coated in a thin layer of concrete, but I'm too old and wise to bother doing that stuff by hand....









Now, let's bring some decent size feature rocks in.








At this stage most of my friends were seriously wondering what I was going to do with this area and although I explained it in detail, I don't think they quite understood what I had in mind.....

These "glass bricks" have since been built in to the holes along the front of the benches.
I've got pics of that in the camera but haven't transferred them yet.

Status: offline 		He obviously had a plan. It's usually quite hard to explain something like that to other people, but you can clearly see it in your mind's eye. This is probably why AutoCad was invented.

My dad's an architect and the programs he uses now-a-days are just amazing when they render it all into a walk through. I remember spending after school and summer times building actual 3D models from his drawings.

Status: offline 		Cheers guys, yeah it shouldn't fall over in a hurry.
It's probably a bit over-engineered in places but I like to be on the safe side with structural work.

The rocks are quite heavy yes.
The large one at the front tipped the backhoe on to the front wheels a couple of times, and the operator reckons it weighs close to 3 tonnes (3000KG - 6600 lbs)

Dunno about "gift" though, more like lots of patience I suppose.
I enjoy it, which is the main thing, and it's always good to push yourself a bit further with each project.

Cutting angles like that takes a lot of time but it's rewarding when it's finished.
I do a lot of timber work, but usually it's not this intricate.




Mostly when I'm doing cuts and angles like this it's with pavers, which is a whole different game all together, although the principle is still the same.... if that makes sense.

Stuff like this.

Got a bit more done yesterday.

The seats will be framed with the 140mm boards and covered with the 90mm ones, so it will be the opposite to the floor.
I'm hoping I've got enough boards to run all of them in full lenghts without any joins, just like with the floor, but we'll see about that....

Yeh Tommygun, I'm aiming to have no end/butt joins anywhere with this project.
The seat I've started will have continuous boards all the way, but I'm thinking of doing somehting different with the other one, not sure what though.

Maybe an insert in the backrest and/or the seat with a section of boards running at a different angle or something like that.
But I've got plenty of time to ponder on that while I finish seat no. 1.
