I don't know what happened but it seems people left the forum for some reason.
I 've seen TOM contributing in this forum quite a lot and I'm sure JODY did that too.
Well it's a forum, one says, one disagrees and some get mad for some reason and if it
get's to you it's better indeed to stop it but I don't know what took them over the edge.
The rather rude assaults sometimes to be witnessed is something to be expected in any
forum or chat because there is no eye to eye contact that takes away some natural
restrictions. It's particular disturbing when it's nothing to do with the actual point
being discussed.
Aircraft RC is, by it's very nature,a very technical orientated hobby and quite unforgiving
for all kinds of mistakes so we all want to get it wright and that makes it irritating
if we think someone is telling stories and hence the irritation is in good faith and so
is the chouting, it's by far not always because we're smartasses.
Nobody has the monopoly of the truth.

I don't know exactly either, but I will admit my last dealings with them was me becoming quite irritated with them and I went off.  Although I didn't mention any names in my post I became quite irritated over them essentially calling the OP stupid and lazy for not using the search function.

my post is here   http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=10783458&key=

I saw it as "them" abusing the OP for something that was not a violation and I told "them" off

At least now, without the needless abusive venomous diatribe by Patrick,
the forum is a much better place where peer-to-peer support and users
treating each other with some degree of respect, works very well!

Yep, forums are good for exchanging information and experiences. But they are also a social network. (Look at how many companies group them in their filters!!). I can understand "old hands" getting jaded with the same old things cropping up over and over again, year after year. We are all here optionally, and we all read what we choose to read. Heck, we can even block certain posters frmo ever appeasring to us if we like so why would we bother getting upset? (any of us).

I know that when I am headed to a country for a stay, I use the search function on the forums to find flyers close by where I am going. I have met some really great people that way (never met an RC'er that isn't ok really - maybe it is because we all share a common fault - planes)

Heck I have even been known to ask about non RC related things and have received some great information far and above what I originally asked for.

Even if I say it myself, My Barbecue skills have improved dramatically and the results are pretty good now. But I am still experimenting with more information as it comes to light. Messing with rubs and mops now.

Aussiesteve,

Off topic, but I wanted to share.

Try this sometime, it is a big hit at my house:

Four-Cheese Smoked Mac n’ Cheese

Ingredients:

1 (16 ounce) package elbow macaroni

1/4  cup butter

1/4 cup all purpose flour

3 cups milk

1 (8 ounces) cream cheese, cut into large chunks

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

2 cups extra sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded

2 cups Gouda cheese shredded

1 cup Parmesan cheese, shredded

Directions

1. Load the wood tray with one small handful of wood chips and preheat the smoker to 225° F.

2. Cook pasta according to package instructions. In a medium saucepan, melt butter, and whisk flour into the butter. Cook over medium heat for 2 minutes, until sauce is bubbly and thick. Whisk in milk and bring to a boil.  Cook 5 minutes until thickened. Stir in cream cheese until mixture is smooth. Add salt and pepper.

3. In a large bowl, combine 1 cup Cheddar, 1 cup Gouda cheese, Parmesan cheese, pasta, and cream sauce. Spoon mixture into an 11 by 9 ½-inch aluminum roasting pan coated with nonstick cooking spray.  Sprinkle top with remaining Cheddar cheese and Gouda cheese.

4. Place in smoker and cook 1 hour at 225° F, until brown, bubbly and delicious.

Even better if you crumble some fresh cooked bacon bits into the mix before putting it in the pan to cook.

I have also cooked a pound of ground beef and mixed it in before putting it in the smoker. It's a meal in itself...

If you click on the picture above, it will take you to John McLemore's website where the recipe is listed, along with many others...
