Im trying to find someone experienced and trust worthy to do a turbine build for me. Does anyone know off anybody?

The best turbine boats I have seen have been out of Peter Muller's shop (Mystic 5000R on Jim's RC dock). Unfortunately at last word Peter was still in the hospital recovering. I can send you some pictures of his work if you would like.

Yeah Peter is definitely who i would prefer to build it. But knowing that he is sick at the moment,i may just have to wait until he is feeling better. I do have some time so will be patient. Some pics of his work would be great! My email address is birel_team42@yahoo.com

I have some very nice Pictures that I took myself but I cannot seem to find them right now. These are some Peter's builds I pulled of the dock. There is a great build thread with plenty of photos if you go over there and search for "ClassOne R/C: 72" Skater Construction "

i would love to one in our 65" gtx, have built a 62" mti after the budwieser select twin turbine boat, but have not had a customer go for the turbines for power, have played with turbine helicopters and jets, boats are on the want to do list

dumb question.....how does the turbine engine operate in the boat?
what does it require besides the turbine? hardware etc and how much $$$$$? Damn it gotta lots of the latter!
anyone has a schmetic to show and tell. I would love to learn and hear about it

Actually, a turbine in an R/C is very similar to a turbine in a full sized boat. The turbine is controlled by a servo operating a control circuit that monitors and controls the turbine itself. As the turbine is running, the rotation of the inner turbine assembly is routed, via an output shaft, into a gearbox that steps down the rotation from the engine's 75-100KRPM to 20-30KRPM. From there, it' s just like any other inboard boat, driveshaft through stuffing tube and strut. As far as costs, you're probably looking in the $2500 to $4000 range for the engine and gearbox alone

Heres a pic of my 2 turbines, you can see the gearboxes... they come standard with rectangular exhausts and not round.. had to get the round exhausts made.

Peter is about the only one that I know of here in the states that might be able to do it if he's up to it. I've seen his Bud boat and one of Tom Borisch's Class One Cat's. Tom went with the smaller turbines at only $4,500.00 a pop. Tom does have a gas scale hydro converted over to a turbine also, probably done by Peter.

Yeah saw Tom's Class One Skater cat....even with a smaller turbine, flies!!! A turbine scale hydro would be awesome.
I guess the cost of the turbine is the major expense. 4500 includes the electronics?
What about the gearbox? Guess that isn't standard off the shelf item either!

Jetcat make a turbine that is for boat applications. The turbine come with the gearbox, just like in the pic I posted but only with the rectangular exhaust outlet.

Bad idea. The only thing he is good at is scamming people.

Forget Peter !!! He ripped off my friend Walter for over $20,000 cash money for two turbine hydro's he was supposed to build for him.

Then Tom Borish gave him a job when he was down and out with no work, no money or place to live and paid him well and rented a car for him to come back to Florida with and he disappeared with the car for over a month and abandoned it at a airport and cost Tom $7000 on his credit car to pay the rental card company.

Peter is on a wrong path there is no question about that. Stay very clear of that individual.

Im looking to start a turbine build in the new year. Going with single jetcat spm5 in 72" mono.

Wetsleeves....how do you think running direct drive instead of splitter gear box in single mono set-up? I would really prefer direct drive set-up but not sure how it will affect since i have no experience with turbines in rc boats. And have only watched my father with his turbine rc jets.
