Looking great 757!

How will you bolt the 2 fuse halves together with the tanks installed? I was trying to figure a way to transport it in 2 halves as it would be so much easier!

The tanks will easily install from the engine side. No worries! If you do that you may need to make the engine mount rails easily removable to provide more room to get the tanks in and out.

I am seriously considering build so you can bolt to fuse halves at the field! Will have to give some more thought! When is the maiden?

I am playing with my version of TV currently. Would be full time however as I will run of elevator servos!

The F-4 has been getting a little more attention. I expect the 22 to be ready before the end of next month. The gear doors is the biggest item left. As usual just lots of little projects to complete. I verified the CG yesterday and final equiptment layout. Pics to come.

Mav, I still would love to see pictures of your gear doors and how they attach.

And some more!

Note to get the correct geometry I had to use air power rams for the for the upper gear doors which were the biggest PIA. Fibre Glass tape on the outside just to tidy up the gap for a nice clean finish!!! This is scale as they use tape on the full size jets especially carrier based jets to patch up any non structural knicks and bruises!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Mav. I would get the 170 and big tanks if you are planning on TV. You can always throttle back and the weight is about roughly the same. That said there is only 4 to 5 lbs thrust difference between the two but that is substantial if you are standing her on the tail or operating from a short runway.

The F-4 is done and the 22 is in full swing now. I glued a servo mount to the back of the cockpit tub an remounted the glareshield and HUD. I needed more canopy clearance.
The equiptment tray for nose is done and ready for install. I'm going to get the gear doors done before I put anything in the nose or bolt it to the fuse. Much easier to work on that way. Pics....

Forgot to mention, it helps to space the seam where the gear door meets the fuselage. If you don't it will not open after you hinge it. Ask me how I know. Now I use double sided tape and get the trial and error done that way.

The aft end of the nose door interfears with the intake. This limits how far the doors will open substantially.

I expect to have this on ready in a month if I can keep from working too much.

757,

I used the supplied offset hinges for nose gear doors no problem. Had to gring them back a bit, but much easier job than the mains!!

Keep us updated on the maiden!

Yes I am leaning towards a 170. I have a NIB Cheetah never run that I will sell or swap for!

Gear doors are installed, now I have to hook some servos up to them! I love these Robart hinges. The only downfall is you have to drill a hole in them to attach an operating rod.

Last for the night. The main gear doors work very well and the upper door at the wing root has tons of travel. The big doors are a little warped and I'm going to try and correct that with some heat. I also created some work when the cuttoff wheel penetrated the outer skin. It will repair easily but will take some time. I hate rework.

757,

Those offset hinges are awesome. Way better than kit supplied ones. Can you send me the link where to get them?

Looking good!

Cheers,

Thx countryboy!

I will retrofit my lower main doors with these. Better geometry and quality! Cool.
