Not yet. Was pleased to find the inner doors are included. It looks like there are pockets for hinges on the doors and the wing but it will take some engineering to figure out the linkages.

I'm just starting to work on the wing and I am considering making it a one-piece unit since I have the room for transportation and I don't trust that the constant on and off of the panels won't get sloppy. Anybody want to comment on the plusses and minusses of this strategy?
Thanks,
Mike in L.A.

I 'am also building one for a friend and I 'am making this a 1 piece wing. other then transportation which I have no problem with, I do not see any other advatage . The less pluging in and out and extra pluging of extension wires I always felt that there was a chance for a problem. i have had that happen to me twice before on a byron P*51 with the 2 piece wing , I was tugging at the extention on the wing panel to plug into the extension in the middle wing and sure enough just as I was about to land I lost airleon control and when I picked up the pieces I found the plug had come out of the receiver . I stayed in long enough to have a full flight but as soon as I droped the gear and made my turn douwnwind it failed. I also had another but that is also another story .

The only thing you missed on the plug in wing thing Bob is that it is a Top Flite design...but if you like the single wing thing thats ok too. To alleviate your plug problems, just use Deans mini connectors and you wont have that problem, or what I use, the little plastic servo connector clips, they also work very well.

The problem is not with the servo extensions but where the servo connects into the receiver , that is where the tugging trying to connect the servo extensions wind up pulling the plug from the receiver and you will not be awhare of it. I use the plastic connectors on all my servo connections, but there are none for the connector to the receiver. You have to be very carefull not to pull to much when connecting the outer pannels.

thanks bob

A trick taught to me by a fellow club member that works really good: Use dental floss or a similar "waxed thread" type stuff to cinch the connectors into the reciever. A little thin CA to stiffen up the first half inch or so makes it easy to thread "thread the needle" between the wires at the connector, run it around the RX a couple of times, knot it and then CA the knot. They pretty much can't pull out if you do it right.

Do any of the lucky guys who have this already also have the TF P47? I was wondering if it is similar in size ie Cowl and fuse diameter?

Cheers

The new electric Robart gear set for this plane are due mid June according to Tower. Thats the mains and tail electric retracts. Problem is they cost as much as the arf, pretty much. The regular air set is much less expensive still so you do have the choice. Even at dealer cost they are expensive I think.

Air Mains - ROBQ1655
E Mains - ROBQ1656
Air Tail - ROBQ2230
E Tail - ROBQ2231

I don't know how you figure that the Air System is that much cheaper than the Electric. Looking at Tower, the Electric vs. the Air is about $107.00 more, but when you factor in the Air Control Kit for $73.00 and a servo to control it, it's almost a wash. At least for me, it's a no brainer, not having to deal with the air and all the issues that come with it, I'm going Electric. My 2 cents.

Having used some of the plug in electric retracts in smaller projects, I have to think there's nothing easier.

Every year I covered Top Gun, guys were having more issues with retracts than engines, radios and everything else combined.

Easy fix...mount a zip tie near proximity of the RX and route all wires through before connecting to the RX...then zip em up.

Would someone pls take some measurements for me............

diameter of the main wheels.........is there room in the wheel wells to install larger?

length of the outer wing panels and width (at the widest point)

width of the assembled cockpit and height from seat bottom to headrest (I have a pilot I'm hoping to use)

Thanks

Not sure about the exact cowl and fuse diameters but I bet they are close. I fly with a guy who has the Tarheel Hal P-47 ARF and I do know the Corsair fuse is considerably which along with the three piece wing was important for me because the P-47 won't fit in my vehicle.

Outer wing panels are 27 1/2" long and 17 3/4" wide. Supplied scale-like wheels are about 4 1/2" and you might be able to use a 4 3/4 - 5" wheel.

Hey, Has anyone looked into or for that matter had any luck with the Electric Gear Door Motors from Lado?

Here's the link to them: http://www.lado-tech.net/en/e-doors/23-gear-door-20mm.html

Just wondering,

John

Hey Guys

Another tip for not yanking plugs out of the RX is to use a little shoe goo on the plugs once they are in the RX.  Like a little shoe goo bridge between plug and RX.  Heli guy showed me this and I do it now with everything.

The nice thing is when needed, it peels right off

Just thought I'd share

When you own all the other stuff, like I do, then its more expensive to buy electric. If you dont then maybe its a wash for you.

Looked at the invoice and shipping alone for my kit was $90!

I found a Saito 300 twin dual carb and spark so thats going in instead of the OS 55GT. I just couldnt stand to see the engine stick out of the cowl bottom. The Saito will sound really good and pull this one around nicely.

Who's using what engine in their Corsair?
