Computer is well lubricated Capt. G Nice design and will welcome the set up on my Corsair. Are you going to use G-Pete vinyl rivets? I have quite a few on hand for this plane and plan on using them.

I called Fiberglass Specialties just now and I have to give him the firewall measurements where the cowl mounts to the fuse then he will compare it to what he has for the kit. He said there are two versions for the kit, one with and one without the cooling flaps open. Know more tomorrow.

Question for all TF Corsair 50cc ARF Builders.

Did anybody reverse the position of the flap servos, so they both face the same way. If I did this I could use a Y harness for the flap system. The hard mount for the control horn will still be in the correct position. This is the way the TF P-47 50cc ARF flap servos are installed. I built this plane also. I am trying to use a 9 channel Rx and I don't want to Y the elevators or use a reverse gizmo on the flap system. I am going to Y the rudder and tail wheel together. Thats 9 because I also want to use one channel for my choke.

Thanks

Steve

I installed the flap servos the way the manuel said to and used a y harness with no problems, so I do not know why you need to reverse the servo installation.

Yes, I changed the installation of 1 of the flap servos so I could use a y harness. I did the same thing on the Top Flite .60 size P-47. If you don't make this change, the flaps will operate in opposite directions (unless you mix 2 channels together). I am flying this plane on 7 channels. I tried to y the elevators together and could not get the same amount of throw. I gave up and used 2 ch and mixed them together. I also had to install a manual choke.

BTW:

I am thinking of buying the TF Giant P-47 or P-40................any recommendations or tips?

Thanks

If you install the flaps servos per page 9 para 14 (repeat steps 1-13 for the left wing panel), one of the flap servos will need to be reversed. Let me know how you did it with a Y without reversing one of the servos. Maybe I am not reading the directions correctly.

Thanks

Steve

How i did it with my 9 ch 9503x is: two ch for elev, 2 ch for flaps (reverse one in TX), one ch with Y for rudder & TW steering, one ch for ailerons with Y, one thro, one choke, one gear. Mixing is not reqd as the TX has provisions to use 2 ch for flaps and elev. in the programming.

On my Corsair, I did a mix with the flap and aux 4 on my JR 12x. This is the same way you do with ailerons and elevator so you have a slave channel and a master. Once you have this set you go to servo reversing and switch direction of one flap servo. This makes it so both servos can be mounted in the same way and no y harness. I realize some radios don't have all the bells to do this, but there are also companys that sell a servo reverser. You want to keep the flap servo facing toward fuse, so you are toward end of flap where it goes to mate to center flaps. Hope this helps
Rick

Thanks RICK9309

I have a 11x with a 921x Rx. I'm out of channels unless I purchase a 12 channel Rx, just trying to save 200 bucks on a 12 channel Rx ,by using a Y on the flaps

Regards

Steve

Flew the maiden flight this morning with no issues. Three clicks of left aileron trim and five clicks nose down trim. No mix needed with flaps. Another great flying airplane from Top-Flite.

I was having an issue with installing the new robart 148E electric retracts.

When I installed the mount in the wing the rear of the actuator motor was hitting the rear aluminum support plate in the retracted position , even throught I had the mount fully forward to the leading edge of the wing.

I called Robart and there is a fix for this. They are sending me 4 new bushings, (#7) (on your parts diagram)actuator spacers, that will be oblong so that the motor actuator cannot move rearward to contact the aluminum support plate when it retracts.

They advised me that all new production models will have these new oblong bushings

I bought the retractable tailwheel from Earl Aune. It looks really nice and should raise the tail to look more scale than the Robart retractable tailwheel. I'm not sure how robust the Earl Aune unit will be,only time will tell, but it does look sweeeett.

Will try to get some pics up later I have to charge the batteries. I did read the directions, the tail wheel comes with a lifetime warranty to the original owner. I wonder if that covers less than perfect carrier landings

Here is a pic of the retract from Earl Aune You can contact him at earlaune@comcast.net. He is very helpful and responds quickly to e-mails. He shipped mine out the same day I ordered it. Best part is it is made by veterans in the USA

Handyman,

I see no electric motor or pneumatic cylinder. What powers it to retract?

Handyman 220.................

Please post pics of the tailwheel install. I saw that tailwheel the week after I finished my corsair.

I'm still interested in one, though.
