has any one had any time with these two models? I am moving from the sc class into the 1\8 eletric class next year and I was looking at these two and also the backdraft. i like the backdraft price but Im not sure on racing. Has anyone raced any of these models against a name brand 1\8 scale( losi, mugen, team ass.) and how did you do? I dont want to drop 600 to 700 on a buggy\ truggy if I dont have to. I want to show the other racers that you can win without taking a second morgage on your house.lol . Thanks for any info....also I cant find reviews on hurricane or monsoon. has anyone reviewed them????thanks again

the hurricane and monsoon XTE's are fairly new...so probly not gonna find alot of owner reviews yet.

however, they are based on their nitro cousins, which get pretty good marks.

there is a guy in canada that races his backdraft and likes it.

Like any RTR model, adjustments to shocks and suspension settings may be needed....as well as higher quality tires.

other than that there is not reason any of the 3 wont make a good racer.

the XTE's probly a tad better....as they are based off a true 1/8 scale platform. the backdraft is a stretched 1/10 chassis with 17mm hex stubs.

From my experience you can expect the back draft to be faster out of the box compared to the xte.

I don't own either buggy but i do own an aftershock and earthquake 8e. I did a custom conversion of my nitro hurricane using 8e components, almost the same as an xte.

I also own an Avalanche XTE. The XTE's have wider stances and I like the hardware on the XTE minus the differential so far. But you pay for it in weight. the 8e's are lighter, have batteries with the same 20C discharge rate and 80amp esc's. I couldn't find specs for the motors.

backdraft should be quicker....as it is lighter and has the same kinda power.

but i should think the hurricane would handle a tad better and be more durable.

if the backdraft is a stretched 10th scale  does it run 10th scale motor \esc or does it run 1\8 scale? Ive got a 4300kv in my slash now that would be awesome in it.
