Status: offline 		What is the hardest, or most technical, or highest landing speed, or shortest wheelbase or all the above jet to fly, takeoff and land out there.

Maybe F-104 F-105 F-18 with flying stabs or any other?

Status: offline 		Not from personal experience, but I've heard that the F-18E and the F4 are a handful to land.

Yes I know, anyone can eventually master the technique, but overall I heard there is deffinetely a learning curve.

Status: offline 		The Gripen was pretty tough since there were so few people who were succesful with them and there wasn't any significant experience out there to ask advice which is why I started the Gripen Owners/Build thread. However, by trial and error we worked together to figure out the best setup and now it's a breeze to fly and land.

Is any model really that hard to fly once sorted?? Look at the post above re the Gripen as proof.

Status: offline 		As a general rule a model will fly very closely to its full size counterpart. There are differences caused by airfoil, wing loading, balancing and so forth but an F-4 would be expected to be more more difficult than an F15...just like the real ones

My old F-4 was really fairly easy to land. It sort of "arrived" with little tendency to bounce.

The hardest jets to land that I've ever flown were the PCM Models L1011 and the BVM T-33. Both had to be landed nose high at just the right airspeed or a bounce scenario started that ended with the model at close to zero airspeed, 30+ degrees nose up, and 2+ feet off the ground. The next thing that happened was the pilot carrying the model back to the pits with the gear hanging by the air hoses, if he was lucky, and up through the top of the wing if he was not.

Status: offline 		I wouldn't call it the "the hardest" but it does demand the most concentration and has a small window of error on the landing. The Firebird. Had about 80 flights on mine. On or about the 25 th flight I got a little too comfortable on the landing and she did the bounce. Fixed her up and learned my lesson.

So true because I use to think my F-18C was a handful hard until we change the C/G, what a differences, even comes in slower than my Euro.

So true because I use to think my F-18C was a handful hard until we change the C/G, what a differences, even comes in slower than my Euro.


Just curious...what F-18C and what was the CG move (for or aft)?

It is the point where you want them to stop flying but still be flyable that is hard on some.

As was mentioned repeatedly above, once you develop the skill set for your jet, AND get it set up properly, none of them are hard to fly.
