I was told the plane was called a Sistane. At least that's how this guy spelled it. Its the size of a 1/6 cub and high wing. Almost citabra and cub looking. I did an internet search but could not come up with anything. Anyone have any ideas?

Yup.. it was a kit i believe i can see the number and such on the parts inside the thing. So I don't think it was a scratch build.. Ah well.. I would bet its gotta be at least 20 plus years old maybe more.

Yes plus it looks like the it guy was making a cowl for it by making at that foam plug on it, i bet if you can get a Citabria or Decathlon's cowl for 45sz models as that will fit on ur model's firewall....

I agree and yes you are correct it is a foam type cowl deal but does have fiberglass on the outside. So i think I can get all that foam out and possibly still use the cowl. Possibly might need to glue a little more balsa around the edge of the firewall to get it to work but will see. Working on getting this Cub going first. Thanks guys.

It's an old Pilot 40 size Super Decathlon. I know this because I just picked up one last night from a friend. They are very scale and quite rare nowadays. Mine is not covered and is missing the cowl as well. It is very nicely built however. The next challenge is to find a cowl for it. Looks like the person you got it from tried to make a cowl for it.

Cheers!

By the way, don't try to fly it without the wing struts attached - they are functional!

Cheers!

Thanks Jollidude... I am pretty sure I can clean that cowl up with some sanding and paint and make it look super nice. As for the struts I am sure I can make up a set that will work.. I will look around for that kit though for sure..

Thanks

"It's an old Pilot 40 size Super Decathlon. "

You JUST beat me to it. I built and flew one of those till its demise in an aerobatic maneuver called a Falling Leaf. We were on a construction site, with terraces; The falling leaf is a stall, then hard right, hard right, and alternate; I got so entrhralled, that before I realized it, the plane was level with my eyes and no room to recover. It was one of my all time favorite planes.:-(((((((((((((((
