Your better off being on thge safe side and just get the rear cnc box, bvecause if it does blowout your ring and pinion then your looking at around $50 plus you then bought a nutech plastic case $17 with shipping, and all the time it takes to pull it all back apart and replace.

You have a point. I just wish being on the safe side didn't cost me $120. Plus if I lock the center diff, that's another $50.

So even the "upgraded" nutech plastic diff cases are not strong enough to withstand a normal engine? I can't imagine what they were like before the upgrade.

I haven't looked, but I'm guessing 2 bolt.

Like the others have said, this is supposed to be a (rebranded?) smartech titan. That's why I got confused when I saw "Nutech" on the box.

nutech own smartech now it all comes out of the same factory thats why its has nutech on the box
the truck is a smartech titan rebraneded by hk
it will have a smartech 28cc engine thats is a 3 bolt head engine
a cy or zenoah will bolt in on same mounts no problem
hope that clears up a few questions

and if you want to use a center diff locker from nutech you will need the center ring gear as well from the nutech as the smartech one is differnt and the locker wont bolt up
you allso might need the center drive cups from a nutech as well not 100% sure on that one

Thanks for clearing up those questions. I also have the same question as kg2mb. If Nutech owns Smartech, why are they still producing Smartech vehicles? You would think they would just discontinue the Smartech vehicles and only sell Nutech. Unless the Smartech line is supposed to be a budget vehicle?

Well I lost another screw and washer on the other steering knuckle this time. front steering knuckles seam to be the biggest problem with the truck. I received the parts I ordered last night. The new screws come with a lock nut I will se if ther is room for it in the stock knuckle. I will see if I have time to install the parts this week end.

You'll have to let me know how that goes. Bentley marshall was mentioning that in order to lock the center diff, you need to also get the nutech center ring gear in order to get it to bolt up. Let me know of that's the case. I'm kind of waiting on your results to see what sort of order I should place.

What are people using for throttle servos? I noticed that the turnigy titan uses a steering servo sized servo for throttle/brake. I have a hs-5755 I plan on using for steering. I also have an extra 5755 that I could use for throttle/brake, but that seems like overkill.

I had time to work on the truck this afternoon. I did not order all the parts need to install the locking center diff. I installed the header the hole centers were off about 3mm. I drilled out the 2 holes to fit. The header and pipe don't fit the pipe is a about 1-1/2" short. I will weld an extention to to make it work. The center diff and rear diff part are the same. onle difference is the ring gear. I ordered the correct ring gear to fit the locking diff part. Not sure if I'm missing any more part to complete the mods.

Do you think you'll need the nutech center drive cups, or do you think the stock ones will be compatible? I ask because bentley marshall had mentioned that as a possibility.

From the picture it looks like you have the splined drive cups for the center differential which will not work with the Nutech center locking differential, you will need the center drive cups as well part # 057536.

Received the center gear and drive cups from Nutec. I'm having trouble with to much end play with the locking diff. any one know where I can get some shims. Need 2 more to go in-between the bearing and the center diff. The other problem is with the stearing knucles. I ordered what I thought was replacment screws and bushing. the stock ones are 4 mm the new ones are much smaller and don't fit.I hope I don't have to buy new knuckles they are $100.00 for a pair plus the C hub. A $500.00 truck is turning into $800.00 fast.

Hello oskygt
sorry to here that you are having trouble. I have had excellent service from Nutech with my problems. They have called me to make sure that I was ordering the correct parts and have been very helpful. Hope things work out for you and your friend. My issue is that the Turnigy truck and Nutech replacement parts are not exactly the same and I have had to order more that I wanted to spend money on. but it's not Nutech fault. Turnigy does not sell any parts at this time. At least I can get parts.
