Status: offline 		I bought this pkg. to use with my UMX bind & fly planes, now I want to put the RX's in my new PA Ultimate AMR.... how is the best way to orient the antennas in the fuselage? The fuselage has a plate in it to mount the main Rx, so that the antennas will stick out parallel with the wings should the sattelite rx be mounted on the side of the fuse with the antennas up and down?

If the main Rx is mounted to a bulkhead, facing forward or backward, and the antennas are parallel to the ground and stick out between one side of the fuselage and the other, mount the satellite Rx to the side of the fuselage with the antennas pointing up and down.

Status: offline 		As you progress in the hobby, it is important to establish habits that will minimize potential problems, if not now, then in the future. As you move on to larger projects, range becomes more important, and the proper placement of the radio gear becomes more important. There is a greater chance that your construction or type of power system may introduce the blockage of the signal to the receivers that was not the case in the simple smaller aircraft.

I definitely agree with you that you can cut corners with the smaller stuff because the risks are lower, but for experienced pilots, we know when we can do that and when we need to be more careful with our installations.

I feel this is important with all the carbon fiber iin the plane.

Yes!! The important thing is to be sure that the antennas for the Main Rx are oriented 90deg to the antennas on the Satellite Rx. That means that if the antennas on the Main Rx are oriented parallel to the ground/wings, the antennas on the Satellite Rx are oriented perpendicular to the ground(parallel to the vertical fin). You could also do this the opposite way, as well.

I do not have any aircraft with Carbon Fiber fuselage, but there are Spektrum receivers designed for such aircraft. From what I have read, you need to get the antennas out through a hole in the Carbon Fiber, so these Rx's have longer antennas. I do not know where you draw the line on which Rx to use.

Status: offline 		The PA Ultimate AMR is "Fiber Fusion" construction, not all Fiber. It has a lot more balsa than fiber and has open areas as well so not such a problem as a full composite aircraft.

However, considering the cost of the airframe, put the best receiver package i. It will save you funds in the future.

OK!!

The best thing to do is a Range Test rotating the model at 45deg intervals over a range of 360 degrees. You can also do this with and without the motor running. The Telemetry, or when using a Flight Logger, can tell you if you have any angles that might be blocking the signal to the Rx.
