Other than in photos , I have never seen a 14mz with a Weatronics module attached to it. I guess it's more common in the UK.

Not at all common in the UK.

Thanks for the pictures Mark, makes it a little easier to wait a few more days to see it in "real life"
The nice sun here in St Julians, Malta, can almost make it up for not playing with the new toy

PS: Merry Christmas

Thanks Reuben
compared to the shi$$y weather in Denmark, the weather here is pure paradise
Sitting on the balcony this morning eating breakfast in shorts and tshirts is not something I'm used to
Guess there is not much jetflying going on here in Malta right now with xmas and so on ?

Oh on topic, hope there will be a tray for the 18mz as there was for the 14mz...

Hi Carsten,

Well the weather has not been all that nice for a field event but there could be people flying this week since a number of them may be having their holidays. Its probably only the weather that may be the prime disruptive factor.

Back to the MZ, I wonder if this radio is available in Germany. It seems that it is now available in the UK but am not aware whether this is infact available in Germany or Austria (Der-Schweighoffer or Lindinger)

Carsten, have a nice holiday.

Reuben

Hi,

Anyone live where it is bright sun now and can test the 18MZ screen if You can see all on the screen in direct sunlight? I have 14MZ and one of annoying thing with this radio that it is poor visability on screen in bright sun in summer. I do not know if the latest 14MZ LCD screens are better regarding this and if it would be worth get a new LCD screen for it. Not that I would get a 18MZ only because it probably has much better LCD screen then 14MZ but it would be nice to know how good 18MZ LCD screen is in direct sunlight.

/Bo

Hi all,
Just come back from the RAF Barkston winter fly-in and got to see a 18MZ in the flesh.
Personally I think it's a massive improvement on the 14MZ I owned.
Gone are the dodgy screens
Gone are the short battery durations
Gone is the Module system
Gone is the balance problem ( no more silly offset bracket required)
It feels slimmer, less chunky and even smaller even though it isn't!
I run a 12Z at the moment because I like the 14's programming and the 12 Z is the same, but hated the chunky case and touch screen.
I am now convinced that Futaba have addressed all the issues with the 14MZ plus given you a whole host of extras.
The switchable massive timer screen (when actually flying) is just one example that Futaba listen!!
I am definately convinced!
Mark Hinton Flew his Torus and Skymaster A10 (twin Jetcat 100RX powered) on his 18MZ and I've seen with my own eyes the smoothnes, functionality, and un-questionable range
capabilities of this new transmitter!
It's not just ahead of the field, it's in the next universe!
And I speak from experience as all who know me know that I've tried all the rest ( at a cost of a small fortune I must add, as 6Weatronic 12ch receivers, 6 JR 12 ch receivers and a DSX12 tranny don't come cheap!
You really do need to get one of these 18MZ's in your hands to do them justice.
After Mark had been flying all day in cold weather his TX battery was still reading 100%!
Alright I know you have to give up your first born to own one but lets face it, if you're a jet jockey you know you can buy some right crap kit wise for 2 grand and then have to make it fly!
At least the 18MZ works right out of the box!! and you know all your models will drive better and benefit from it.
That's my two-penneth anyway, sorry in advance If I upset any body that flies the other Radio.
Happy new year to you all!!
Glyn.......

Here in Spain they are not available yet and is said will not be till end of January.

I think of some kind of "revenge" as is the country where is advertised cheapest: 2.199,00€ introductory offer price plus a R-6208SB receiver as gift if preordered to any Spanish model shop.

It may be we spaniards will get it later, but at least will buy them cheaper!.

Best Regards and my best wishes for 2012.

Jesus,

Where can you get it for that price? The websites that I have seen are showing approximately 2,500 Euros.

Does anyone know if an ECU telemetry interface is in the works? It would be really nice to be able to monitor starts without the data terminal.

There is one on e-bay at £1801.00 plus £132.68 shipping from the US, first I have seen at under £2000.00: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Futaba-18MZH-2-4Ghz-Radio-W-R7008SB-Receiver-Heli-Mode-2-/280794874366?pt=Radio_Control_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4160adc1fe

Mike,

Be interesting to see if it has the CE mark on it. If not, you're at risk if something goes wrong and your TX is "illegal".

As for the Spanish price I'll believe that when someone buys it for that

I have asked Robbe, last week, when will the next batch be available (none left from the last batch they produced) and they said, in three weeks....maybe....! So, I didn't like what they were telling me and went ahead and bought the one and only, Mode2, which Lindinger had on his webshop!! Awaiting its arrival...any day now!

Mark,

Transferring the models from the CF card of the MZ14 to the SD card and then to the MZ18, is it easy, or a complicated thing?

Chris

To trasnfer 14MZ file to the 18MZ you do not have to use the SD card - you can also go directly into the side of the transmitter USB socket with your card reader.

Why would you want two?, does in not have enough model memory's, it would want a 1000 model capacity at it's price so I cant see the need for a second one.
