I have to agree that the slightly nose-up stance on the full size Bonanza will be what I attempt to achieve on my TF build. We owned a K35 with a couple of partners and the lower tail height made preflights of the tailfeathers very thorough. One of my partners experienced a brief amount of tail flutter on a G35 and he made us believers in checking the tailfeathers thoroughly for any excess play. If the model flies half as well as the K35, it will be a joy to fly!

I really believe that most of the 'problem" in the TF setup is that the main gear struts are too long. The wing is just too high off of the ground compared to full scale, which makes the tail too high also. Another contributing factor is that the main gear oleos aren't compressed somewhat like they would be in full scale. I would think that a focused effort on modding these areas, and as some posters mentioned, shimming up the nose retract will get us where we want to be. I bet takeoffs and landings will be smoother and shorter with the gear set up closer to scale, even if only to a small degree.

Hi there, Karl! How is that Mustang coming along?

It's coming along great, I got side tracked by a TF P-40 that flies great. I hope you enjoy your plane, I was looking at the box and it cost $8.26 to ship it from Byron's in 1986. They were ahead of there time back then. Give me a call when it shows up.

You are the man, Karl! So are you speaking of the Top Flite P-40 kit, 60 ARF, or 1/5th ARF? If it's a 60 size, I got a drop tank with your name all over it!

Karl, they will be made eventually... you will get my first one if you want it!

Does anyone who flies a V-tail Bonanza model use any rudder to aileron mixing, as in the full scale?

My (or should I say me & my brother's) Byron Bonanza arrived today in good condition... the box had never been unpacked since it left the factory! Thanks again to Karl for parting with the kit It was like a time capsule looking at all the stuff in that box... very awesome. Catalogs, flyers, all the parts, plans, graphics... these kits are just amazing. I wasn't prepared for the flashback to when my Dad & I opened our kit back in the day. I could almost hear the conversation & excitement we had. Man, it was worth it just for the trip down memory lane. Awesome.

Now the plans start to simmer...

Ya I thought you would like all the paper work that comes with the kit . All the old prices and the list of kits they did is amazing and how complete they were. Keep us in on the progress.
