Stephan the Mk I looks absolutely gorgeous, please show a couple more pictures.
Fun fly your 1/4 scale at 35 Lbs must be a joy to fly. It's not too light is it?

thanks Brad!

Both spits have a wingspan of 83''span// scale is 1/5.3....they were built more than 10 years ago and still flying...they must have a hundred plus flights logged!!....With the Saito180 with an APC 18X8 ...honestly it's a perfect combo...very fast and agile!!!

Brad,

If you think you're impressed now, just wait until you receive your kit! Did you also get the cockpit kit? It's a Chad V production, and its well worth it!

Happy New Year!
I plan to have my YA Spitfire ready for this spring!
If ok with you guys, I like to use some of your posted photos on my Spitfire site Spitfire9, guys are always looking for information on Spitfire builds, engines used, weights, etc.

This summer I re-engined my Dynaflite Spitfire froms a US 35 to a DLE30, the extra power has made the Dyna Spit into a new airplane for me.

All the best in 2012, cheers - ken

Yeah mate I have been in contact with Chad. He is going to give me a yell when he has some more kits and an updated price.

Super, I think his cockpit kit will really set it off! I believe he is working on some more pieces to add to the existing kit he offers...
Right now I'm keeping the Spit fuse out for some encouragement. I'm almost ready to mate the wings on the Fliteskin 109F, and its all easy finish work from there out.

If anyone is going to the AMA Convention this weekend, I'll have my Spitfire on display. Stop by the San Fernando Valley Flyers boot and say Hi.

There exists an old, black and white British film called "Spitfire" that was made in 1943. Starred David Niven, and I don't remember the other actors' name. Details what Mitchell went through to bring the design into existence. Quite good. Got mine at a swap meet years ago but it might be available through Amazon, or some DVD retailer.

Hi spitfire brothers.
Does anyone out there have a detailed set of spitfire drawings showing fuselage former detail for the bubble canopy spit. I want to know what mods to make to my early shape fuz to be able to model a late build MK XVI - or better still mod a Yellow aircraft fuz to create a MK XVIII. Anyone out there have a spitfire bubble canopy to suit either 1/6th scale {73" span} or to suit any other larger Spit kit or plan
Also, why is it so hard for kit manufactruers to get the botom of the wing center section right - the cheating dogs just make the thing flat.

Another big issue on the bottom of the plane on the Top Flite kit, and I suspect others too, is the spacing of the gears. The gears on the TF are so far apart that the wheel wells are where the cannons are suppose to be. The flat wing is mostly done for ease of construction and manufacturing. The gears are set wide apart to improve model ground handling.
While I did not address the issue of the gears, I did try to give a little bit more shape to the underside on my build. More of a hint of the shape than actually reproducing it.
