sonny, you're welcome. i stumbled across the site while researching for my P-51. imagine that... both my favorite warbirds holed up together.

i'm currently not with a club right now. just out of a football field here in town at the high school on the weekends time and weather permitting. i used to fly out at the mount rainier rc society club a few years ago, but deployed a lot over the years, and dropped the membership. i'm working on my AMA application right now and will soon be going back out there. it's a nice place. there should be a club meeting sometime in a few days to drop an application off with those guys and pay the dues. that's something that's going to take some getting used to again. the football field is free.

but, i've been buried in balsa more than not lately, retiring a plane and getting another ready. i've got 4 planes in various stages of completion right now, but am concentrating on another trainer with skis, hoping for a little snow this weekend or middle of the week. where are you tearing holes in the sky?

What interior package is this, or is it your design/fabrication?

Crash bandicoute,
I am a member of Wally World RC Flyer and our club field is in Tenino, WA. If you do a search on AMA for local club, you will see us. It's a small club with only 10 member, but we have fun. If you love the P-51, there is one base at the Olympia Airport and the owner do fly it alot!!! He like to fly over our flying field from time to time just to say hello. We all stop flying and enjoy the sight and sound of the low fly-by!!
Thanks you for your service and I know the place where you fly. May have to stop by and say hello!!!
Flying in snow is a blast, but, the hands get cold very fast!!!

You are correct, nothing sounds like a Merlin!

Check out the video for my 2008 Warbird Event here in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Museum of Flying supports the event each year, weather permitting with full scale fly-bys.

I have had people tell me they would have come just to see these fly-bys.

For you other full scale pilots out there who may be wondering, all passes were made at or above 1000 AGL IAW FAR 91. Two of the 7 years of planned fly-bys we did have an FAA waver to get them lower. However, we still were required by the waver to have a 1000’ horizontal separation from the crowd line. One of these wavered events was weathered out, and one of the previous years was weathered out too , but 5 out of 7 is not all that bad.

Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TYSekDbaOo

I know this is a Spitfire thread, but if needed, turn up the sound and run around the room with your 1/72 scale Spitty

Here is a video I shot while returning from a fly-in from the A-1E/AD-5 Skyraider. Larry the pilot allowed me to log some formation time in the Raider with Miss America on my wing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6wV-fkUt64g

If you would like an opportunity to see these planes in action, plan on being at my Warbird event May 18-20, with fly-bys normally on Saturday morning. To keep up on the latest and any changes go to www.warbirdsoverok.org or just select the link from the Museums site at
www.oklahomamuseumofflying.org

I got a 3.2 brison for it last year but just felt like it wasnt going to be enough engine. I did some swaping and now have a 4.2 to take its place. That should take care of business Ill be posting pics soon.

Everything a modeler needs to build a Mk.IX or Mk.XVI can be found here:

http://monfortonpress.com/index.htm

And much of the information is good for other Marks of Spitfire as well!

With regard to this book, is there an engineering drawing, or any sketch of the spinner cross-section?

Im waiting on the engine for my CJM Spitty. Having to work around the other guys work schedule to meet halfway for the exchange. Cant wait Want to get the engine mounted a soon as possible and rest of radio installed. Then its paint time. I still need a retractable tail wheel, but I have a few 60 sized nose wheel retracts I think I can make work if I have too. I sold my Ziroli Stuka last year and he is going to be at our warbird meet in Aug with it. Going to be my pleasure to shoot him down with the spitty Hope he has smoke system in by then.

would like to have you see other warbird pilot rc clubs. The attached brochure shows some of their fine machines.I am not attempting to hijack this thread only to spread the word , it looks to be a banner year 2012 for warbird flying of any kind, my spitfire flew at one these events starting in 1996 (flown by original owner)
http://www.oeaf.org/smf/editor_uploads/images/SPRING%202012%20FLYER.png

my bucket list for 2012 is to see my spitfire flown at one of these events and possibly with a FORMATION FLYING of my other proud birds.
p.s, still looking for a nose art for "skeeter" (not A SPITFIRE_)

Not sure j-d as I don't yet have the book myself. Maybe you can contact Monforton directly to find out.

Brotherhood,

How many squadron members would be interested in a Spitfire Brotherhood pocket T-Shirt?

If interested, please help by posting some ideas here for the design. It would be nice to have them completed and received before the next flying season.

I recommend no dates, but each could have a number transfer of some kind to ID your brotherhood number, and/or your name.

I have a company here that produces my Warbirds Over Oklahoma shirts. These are embroidered, but he also does silk screen. I also have a friend who can assist with the art work if we provide a good idea and possibly a photo or drawing of the plane to use.

Waiting on feedback,

Thanks,

Count me in; as far as a design; maybe a Frontal View Drawing on the back; and 'Spitfire Brotherhood Squadron' on the Front Pocket or on the opposite side of the Pocket.

It would also be nice to have collared shirts as well.
