Great post Bob! I want to pay homage to the few like you have done when I finally make it across the pond for a visit to that great land myself. I hope other Spitfire Brothers feel the same way. Greater things than we could ever imagine could surely develop if the Brotherhood can hold together in the same spirit as the few.

PLEASE ENJOY FACEBOOK'S FINEST HOUR FOR SPITFIRES! As of 5/10/12 my Facebook account became inoperable. http://www.facebook.com/richard.porter.167

Im just bout done with this C47. Then its time to get the spitty out Cant wait to get it back in the air. Will post pics when I start to work on it.

WBG

Here is the C47 ready for final primer on fuse and wing panels ready for glass.

nice job on the 47. is it a ziroli?

No, its not a ziroli. Its my own design. 1/8.5 scale. Just a tad smaller than Ziroli's. Glass fuse, glass center section, glass vertical and horizontal stab. Couple 150 4 strokes or couple 20 to 26cc gas flies it great. set up for robart gear. This one has lykes line electric retracts in it.

will be shaky until it's fully processed

Great video. Wish we had warbird shows like this one in Oklahoma still. In years past we had 2 in the state, but now none.

WARBIRDRCER,
Check all the die-cut patterns sheets in your Top Flite Spitfire kit for wraping. Just about all the one in my kit had wrap in them. Some steam and some heavy weight did the job.
As for power, I will be going with the OS .95V four stroke. This is the one that replace the OS .91FS

Well I sent in a suggestion for the history channel to cover the uprooting of the Spitfire's in Burma. I doubt anything will happen, but it would sure be great to see a professional organization do a documentary on it. Thanks for bringing this to my/our attention!

i think we should start a petition and send it to the DC . that is a great idea. i thought also that it would be cool to "as a group" plan a trip to the UK and do that show. only thing is that you might not get me to come back lol

I think it's a "bucket list" entry for anyone who likes Spitfires

I've been there 4 y ago, me & my father in-law (we left the girls do some shopping in London) and took the train to Duxford for the day. We met some lovely chaps there and seen lots of Spitfires. Now I can die in peace (not that I'm in a hurry) LOL

I see that now great story! Brand new "old" stuff... this is more exiting than the Titanic junk; less metal but more precious (less is more, right?!)

Progress continues. She is all painted with the exception of a weathering (she will be heavy weathered) and the clear coat.

I took her out is the sun to have a look. Everything is in it except the Pilot, exhaust stacks, ailerlon servos and the new canopy.

She weighs 30 lbs before ballast. Preliminary tests tell me she will need 4-5 lbs depending on location I can put it.

I'm happy with that. My fear she was going to be too light.

To be continued. . .

I had to bring this forward for all to see what Ham you were talking about. Great wok Ham639

"Where's my Spitfire Escort???"
B-17 G from Lone Star Flight Museum, Galveston, Texas.
She flew overhead while I was flyfishing for Redfish. Happens all the time here. Reds'll spook if she flies really low, but that's okay by me-once in a while.

#56, they are grounded due to unflyable conditions and combat zone circumstances. Priority on other in progress pressing battles is making Spitfire escort availability problematic at this time. We must have more planes and pilots. Hurricane is out of action and Spitfires must fill in the gap on critical fronts. Will try to make Spitfires available for future missions as conditions allow.

Under web attack, must put up everything available. There are no reserves.

Out.
