Just a thought,

It would be nice if each member announced here on this thread, when they were going to be attending Warbird events. That way other members might know and look them up?

Just a thought...

I'll be at the Scalemaster's Regional Qualifiers at Hillsdale, Kansas tomorrow. Look for a dark gray Chevy mini-van with Missouri tags. I'll be flying a red Sparrowhawk with a DLE 55.

September 8th there will be a warbird Fly-In at the Lake Jacomo flying field. Same mini-van but I'm not sure what planes I'm taking. My Spitfire is having engine issues so that issue is up in the air.

I will be at Warbirds Over Tulsa, September 7-9. Most likely Saturday 8th only for me, but if interested there are plenty of others staying the weekend. If this link does not work:
http://www.tulsagluedobbers.com/images/Warbirds_Over_Tulsa_Pilot_Flyer_2012_Web.pdf

go to www.tulsagluedobbers.com

Sorry about the shirts guys. Work and home projects have deverted my time and thoughts, but I will look into it next week.

On the topic of Warbird fly-ins, lets plan our National Spitfire Brotherhood Sortie.

For those who live in parts of the world where the flying season may end sooner, what is the latest month of the year you normally can fly?

Once we have this information we can begin to set a date. The idea is to pick a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday that we schedule to go to our flying sites and fly our spitfires. Take photos and videos, and then post them here on the thread.

What say you Brotherhood?

Hi there Spitfire fans
Does anyone have a good set of drawings for Spit with either/or griffon engine cowl & low back bubble canopy. I would love to model the MK XVI that stands as the gate guardian at Christchurch Int'l Airport, or perhaps one of the MK XIIsl soon to be unearthed in Mayanmar.
I have access to a mould & wing drawings to produce a 1/6th scale MKIX. So If I can find some good construction {or sectional view}drawings of the latter cowl & turtledeck I can then model almost all of our favourite warbird variants.

Regards
Dave Read

I am ready to go at any time for this kind of weekend. I think it would be a good idea to just go ahead and pick a date in the near future and stick to it and advertise the heck out of it. First time around you might get maybe half of us,,,, then next time 75% and then more and more as we get to know what is happening. Just give it a go. Pick a date.

Cheers,

Brad

Hi Glad to be #115 my Spit is a Kyosho 90 size Had trouble with the fixed gear. So a little crash ensued. Hope to have it flying again by the end of summer. Have an ASP 108 up front. Putting some air down spring up knockoffs brand in it first air type retracts. Will see how this works out.

SPITFIRE ATTACKED!!!

It is pure inspiration to see the Brotherhood heroically continuing to press on into the unknown at all costs.

My Mk. IX Spit rode to a flying sight twice this week but failed to fly both times due to disasters on both trips with other planes that were flown first. Damaging airplanes tends to put me out of the mood to keep flying. Coincidentally, just last night I had finished reading about Johnnie Johnson's experience about being hit by cannon fire, landing and taking off again in a different Spitfire to then be hit by flack that nearly severed a control cable and how he needed a little break from flying after those two very close experiences.

Anyway, I wanted to prove a strategy that I perfected a few years ago but only recently remembered that might be useful to others who fly different aircraft with different flying characteristics. As was successfully demonstrated with my Spit's last successful landing the week before; the key to victory is to make a few "landing passes" such that it is obvious where the plane would land were power not added for another fly around pass or landing.

No doubt many of you experienced the flack Winston Churchill took this week over the issue of him being honored with his statue's rightful place in the White House. The slandering opponent of Prime Minister Winston Churchill got away without being throughly trounced in a TV news commentary program. In spite of this latest outrage, the Spitfire continues to enjoy good advertising and attention getting action as our favorite piece of legendary lethal flying art.

Please keep up the great work brethern, and always: Aim high, Fly, Fight, Win!

Due to the unanticipated important information about the revolutionary thorium plasma battery technology on top it is now necessary to scroll down to the "buried treasure Spitfire" posts.

"mad thorium batteries" typed in Yahoo and/or Google brings up great information about thorium plasma batteries.

I built this Platt Spit over 10 years ago but I have not flown it for the last 4 years. It was powered by a ST 3250 and did fly fine but I started to go with only gas engines the last 7 years. I had beam mounts in the plane so I felt it would not be able to mount a gas engine. Three weeks ago I started to mount an RCGF 45 in the plane. I cut the nose off about 11 inchs from the spinner and cut out the bearers then built a firewall. It turned out great. I wish I had taken pictures of each step. I will post the final rebuild when I am done.

Sorry, I posted same photo twiice. I made a change of a ST 3250 to an RCGF 45 on a Topflight GS P51 last year. I was very plesed with the change. The P51 had a firewall so it was much easier. I did take some photos of that change. Anyone want to by two ST 3250 cheap.

Any interest in a Spitfire Brotherhood vinyl sticker? Something simple like what is shown below. Nothing real fancy but something you could stick on your flight box to identify yourself with the Brotherhood. I think I will make a couple up just to see how they turn out. If they come out alright I'd be happy to make 'em up for just the cost of materials and shipping.
